Job Description



  • Your key responsibilities

  • Work within a new product development team to define and plan user research and discovery activities
  • Collaborate with R&D and Marketing professionals to lead research synthesis and analysis for the purpose of generating customer insights and creating design inputs that set the direction for early concept development
  • Work closely with R&D and Marketing to conduct heuristic and qualitative analysis of competitor and Stryker products
  • Leverage human centred design methods to solve user and feasibility challenges and provide proposals through visual 2D, 3D and physical design concepts
  • Organize and lead design workshops with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate and down select concepts throughout the product development process
  • Coordinate and manage external research and design firms as required
  • 25% travel expected


What are we looking for?

  • BSc, BA or BFA  in Industrial Design or Product Design
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Industrial Design; preferred experience in medical industry
  • A portfolio demonstrating thought process and products that have been commercialized
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar and 3D modelling software such as Rhino, Solidworks or ProE
  • Proven technical understanding of mechatronics and plastics/metal material manufacturing processes
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and lead through influence
  • Strong time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to accept and manage project risk to drive concurrent projects forward
  • Working knowledge of business applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must be able to work at times in a cadaveric / human tissue environment
