We are looking for you! As a staff software research engineer in the advanced technology research and concept development team in the robotics division at Stryker, you will work with a group of talented and dedicated research engineers to develop new applications and next generation surgical robot platforms. In this role you will contribute broadly to the concept development team and will support strategic long term product road map by focusing on surgical workflow for new applications and by developing surgical intelligence. Successful candidates must excel in high-energy, focused, small-team environment, be able to initiate and drive new research directions and have broad research skill sets including communication, problem-solving, observation and self-motivation.

What you need:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience
  • Demonstrated C++ language skills
  • Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms, and Object Oriented Analysis and Design
  • Experience in Machine Learning, Image Processing, Computer Graphics, and 3D geometry
  • Be detailed oriented with strong written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience in the use of the Qt framework
  • A passion to change the future of surgery
  • Demonstrated experience with early stage product development
  • Experience in image-guide surgery is a plus

What you will do:

  • Continuously explore new digital technologies to improve user experience and to develop future intelligent surgical assistance system
  • Work closely with advanced concept development team to prototype new surgical applications software using surgical robots
  • Independently implement complex concepts, and conduct relevant tests
  • Support the evaluation of new technologies and next generation of surgical robotic platform
  • Participate in, solicit feedback and document reports as needed on cadaveric evaluations
