What you will do

As a Staff Software Engineer you will be responsible for development and maintenance of the Linux O.S. distribution for Stryker Robotics’ medical devices. This includes collaborating with your peers in software engineering and other departments for definition of requirements, specification of design, and verification of the product. You will oversee and coordinate with internal engineers and an external vendor for implementation of the design. You will also be responsible for design artifacts in the quality system and for monitoring and analyzing vulnerabilities and defects and for proposing solutions. You are expected to be knowledgeable in Linux and open source licensing and development practices and have expert understanding and usage of related software development tools.

Job Requirements

What you need
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
•7+ years professional experience with Linux configuration, development, and maintenance. Kernel development experience is a plus.
•Expert knowledge of common Linux packaging mechanisms, such as RPM and DEB. Experience with Snaps is a plus.
•Scripting experience using bash and a common scripting language, such as Python, for task automation and for software installation.
•Experience with the Yocto Project in creation of custom Linux O.S. distributions is preferred.
•Experience with the creation and use of Linux virtual machines.
•Expert knowledge of computer networking and common Internet protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, NTP, etc.…) using Linux.
•Expert knowledge of common O.S. and application security vulnerabilities and related analysis and testing best practices.
•Expert knowledge of common open source licenses, including GPL, BSD, Apache, etc. Contribution to a well-known open source project is a plus.
•LPI, RHCE, or other standard certification preferred.
•Previous experience working with medical devices in a regulated environment is a plus.
