Job Description

Provide Industrial Engineering and Lean Manufacturing leadership within the BPI Group and across the site.

Lean Manufacturing/General

  • Drive and support and advancement of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices across the site
  • Provision of technical support and leadership to Manufacturing teams in their endeavors to initiate and sustain Kaizen / continuous improvement
  • Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
  • Identification of improvement opportunities and initiation of project teams to achieve site goals and facilitating the removal of barriers to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Constantly promote, educate, and instill culture of identification and elimination of waste throughout the plant within manufacturing areas and also in support / transactional area.

  • Ensure that Lean activities and projects are linked such that the entire value stream is addressed and maximum benefit is extracted from Lean activities.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports Stryker’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support.  Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented
  • Assist in developing a road map for lean on-site, with key site goals and timelines
  • Lead, coach and mentor project groups through Stryker Production system initiatives
  • Lead, manage and coach assigned personnel, as required
  • Develop and Implement a range of Lean and Industrial Engineering tools to improve overall performance and reduce costs
  • Develop and deliver training programs on site
  • Foster a strong working relationship with the central Continuous Improvement team
  • Liaise with EH&S Department to ensure improvements through Lean activity are assessed ergonomically and are aligned with EH&S continuous improvement goals
  • Develop and foster a continuous improvement culture
  • Actively seek to drive cost out of all areas of the business
  • Use and coach structured problem solving during daily activities
  • All other duties as assigned

Operations Support

  • Conduct Production capacity analysis and provide input to the integrated business planning process
  • Develop Capacity scenarios to assist Operations in identifying suitable flexing strategies
  • Assist Operations in headcount planning
  • Provide support to manufacturing as required to meet the business targets and Objectives
  • Support, mentor and coach Production Team Leaders and other plant staff.
  • Continuously assess and seek to improve the performance of manufacturing and business processes
  • Apply Preparation of floor layouts for manufacturing processes and optimising space utilisation
  • Develop and maintain a site spatial strategy

New Products

  • Provide support and drive Born Lean initiatives for new product introductions
  • Development and sustainment of COGS models for new products

Engineering Standards

  • Work with Finance to manage the annual update of the Engineering Standard Times for the site
  • Degree or Masters in relevant Engineering or Science discipline (Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Production etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant Lean, Operations or Industrial Engineering experience
  • Experience in AutoCAD (preferred, not mandatory).
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Lean/IE tools and methods
