We are currently seeking a R&D Manager located in Portage, Michigan.

What you will do:

As a Sr. R&D Manager, you will lead the development of a team of Mechanical, Software, and Electrical Engineers to develop complex electromechanical systems with embedded SW controls.  This role will be a key leader in our Surgical Technologies team developing new products with our Customers. 

Primary Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the activities of R&D team to meet agreed department/project deliverables for active projects
  • Own and drive phase gate deliverables from research through product launch and commercialization.
  • Create a culture of success and excellence
  • Partner with Marketing, R&D Leadership, and Customers to build out portfolio and product planning strategies and own research projects according to the roadmap
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, key partners, and cross-divisional R&D leaders to implement road map and deliver on current projects
  • Evaluates the performance of the team based on pre-established performance parameters
  • Interview, hire, train, develop and engage top talent while ensuring a pipeline of talent is established for future roles.
  • Drive process improvements across NPD and strive to improve speed to market.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement best practices across large, complex organizations.

What you need:

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years experience leading R&D/Engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams developing electromechanical devices
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering

Travel Percentage: 20%
