What you will do 

The Sr. Principal Engineer provides technical leadership by advising teams, directing electrical architecture, and conducting R&D and technical studies, and performing a wide variety of technical work which will lead to new products/product lines under marketing, cost, time and regulatory construction.  The work product demonstrates technical creativity, and innovation affecting multiple disciplines and work groups.

•Plans and leads engineering research, design, and development •Will monitor and control progress of projects to ensure sound application of engineering principles are used and design intent is being followed/achieved•Coordinates with other units, vendors and senior managers as needed to ensure specific cost, time and/or regulatory standards are met•Proactively assists in the development of the technical community•Shares knowledge and technical expertise through publishing, teaching and/or mentoring•Has administrative authority for engineering drawings, BOM and engineering change orders•Will submit periodic reports on assigned topics to appropriate personnel•Will train others on functionally related topics•Will evaluate the results of projects and provide manufacturing guidance/assistance as needed•May coordinate the activities of 1 or more exempt and/or non-exempt employee•May provide feedback on performance of one or more employees, based on pre-established performance parameters

What you need

•B.S. in electrical engineering or related engineering curriculum

•At least 10 years related electrical engineering experience •Knowledge in architecture definition and PCB design/layout•Excellent analytical skills•Excellent interpersonal communication skills•Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment•Demonstrated electrical design and problem solving skills•Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.)•Must be able to generate and explain detailed schedules, performance and design objectives•Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately•Must be able to analyze and correct complex product and/or process issues of a broad scope using independent judgment
