Responsibilities
The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of one or more teams within an operational or operational support segment. This position works with team leaders and managers to ensure quality, delivery and performance to budget, team building and employee engagement, new product implementation, capacity and production planning. Additionally, the Sr. Operations Manager provides training and mentorship to Production Team Leaders and operations support staff personnel and serves as participant to support Centers of Excellence as required.

Specific responsibilities of the Sr. Operations Manager include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides support to the production team leaders and managers in the recruitment of talent and performance management including hiring, communicating company policies, coaching and counseling, administering performance appraisals, and enforcing company policies through appropriate disciplinary measures
  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting the status of the business unit to management
  • Ensuring compliance with established regulatory and quality, legal, corporate, and human resources policies and procedures
  • Team-based and product-focused orientation toward operational metrics. Focus on capacity planning, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance, safety awareness, and cost reduction implementation so timely, accurate shipments are produced
  • Responsible and accountable for actions promoting an environment that fosters personal growth and development resulting in improved employee engagement
  • Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot issues
  • Focuses on customer satisfaction through teamwork and empowerment, solving problems through a consultative approach, operating with honesty and integrity and providing a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service
  • Accountable for all record-keeping as appropriate and in accordance with Stryker specifications
  • Perform with honesty and integrity instituting a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service, for both internal and external customers. Implement “Stryker. There for you.” to earn customer loyalty by developing true friendships with our customers, providing best-in-class products, services and quality
  • Contributes to leading in product innovation by listening and working with others and contributing new ideas
  • Serve as a leader for the entire Operations team providing mentorship and guidance for new staff and manager
  • Provide support and influence to business development and Business Unit strategic initiatives in to drive the best outcomes from Operations
  • Provide leadership, directions, expectations and performance feedback to direct reports which may include team leaders, buyers, planners, manufacturing engineers, process engineers, process technicians and material coordinators

Job Requirements

Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, Master degree preferred. Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment and at least 5 years of proven leadership/supervisory experience is required.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experience:
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to teach and coach individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations and/or initiatives (i.e. product launches, customer impacting, business critical, etc.)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with problem solving and process improvement orientation
  • Knowledge of Lean tools (i.e.: Six Sigma) and supervisory experience in a Lean manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Demonstrated communication (written & verbal), presentation, partnership and influencing skills
  • Ability to work and influence cross-functionally to deliver results
