The Master Data Management Lead will oversee the design and execution of master data strategy, including the development and implementation activities supporting the optimization of end-to-end business processes related to Stryker’s global SAP implementation.  The position will be responsible for the current state assessment of master data and the creation of future state master data constructs, in order to modernize, simplify and improve the quality/integrity of data.  The scope of this role includes the design and delivery of master data solutions pertaining to the SAP suite of applications, associated partner systems and test data. 

The Lead will also be responsible for influencing the development and establishment of master data governance including the creation, maintenance and quality of master data; the establishment of policies and procedures; and the design and delivery of data management across the solution enterprise.

Responsible for understanding the interrelationships and impacts associated with the application of master data across end-to-end business processes, the Lead is directly accountable for the outcomes associated with master data design.  The Lead also serves as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and conversion issues.  They will work closely with commercial, functional and technical business leaders to continuously improve the quality, utilization, and standardization of Stryker’s master data.

  • Actively participate as a member of Stryker’s SAP global implementation program leadership team.
  • Responsible for interacting with and influencing key global stakeholders (SLT, VP, Sr. Director, Director, etc.) to educate, build consensus, make decisions, and execute plans and programs that utilize and support master data standards.
  • Lead the Master Data Management Workstream including business, IT and consulting partner resources.
  • Lead a team focused on the development and engagement of talented subject matter experts/leaders.  Build competency within the team and a strategy to deploy master data know-how throughout the broader enterprise.
  • Define and implement the master data requirements across key end-to-end business processes across the Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Forecast-to-Supply (FTS), Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Record-to-Report (RTR) workstreams.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and utilization of master data quality measures and practices.
  • Partner and collaborate with Global Process Owners and affiliated programs to ensure data standards align across processes and within the Enterprise application frame work.
  • Drive harmonized best practice processes across all divisions and geographies allowing minor configurations (as necessary) with no customizations.
  • Participate in M&A activities to assess the impact of master data standards on the integration process.
  • Partner closely with the IS Enterprise Architecture organization to ensure alignment between the IS application roadmap and Stryker’s master data strategy.
  • Liaison with commercial, functional and technology leaders to ensure that data-related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Establish a strategic vision, implementation roadmap and communication plan for Master Data Governance that is aligned with Stryker’s overall strategic vision.
  • Establish policies and procedures for Master Data governance related to the global SAP implementation and associated partner systems and test data.
  • Deploy a master data governance framework, with a focus on improving data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Sciences or Information Technology or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior-level master data management role.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience implementing and supporting the SAP MDG solution across the base S/4 Hana applications and associated partner systems.
  • Strong foundation in SAP S/4 Hana and supporting modules.
  • Demonstrated functional understanding of key SAP processes (OTC, PTP, FTS and RTR) and the interrelationships, impacts and usage of master data within the suite of applications.
  • Data expertise related to the Vendor, Customer, Material and Finance data domains, as well as end-to-end interrelationships.
  • Experience defining and implementing master data governance delivery strategies for large and complex organizations (interfacing with global teams preferred).
  • In depth knowledge of master data governance and management principles and concepts. Well versed in data governance best practices.
  • Ability to think strategically while operating tactically to implement global data standards and global technical/process solutions.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
