"This role will direct the organization accountable for information services to the Medical Division. The individual will lead, develop and manage business partnerships with all Medical leadership teams to formulate the IS strategy and architecture in alignment with divisional business strategy and objectives. The individual will continue to direct appropriate resources to drive key programs to achieve financial, operational and customer service goals. Key responsibilities include:  Develop, direct and engage an effective team, build strong collaborative relationships with division leadership and teams.  Direct an organization and own IT budget and guide the division in effectively investing in IS to meet strategic objectives. Build an organization that provides knowledge and expertise to department heads and process owners in identifying opportunities for technology and prioritizing initiatives. The organization will partner with the business to prepare, define, and monitor IS projects to address business needs; and, manage alignment of project deliverables with business requirements throughout the project and delivery life cycle.  This role will also collaborate with all other divisions to help construct Enterprise Architecture alignment and facilitate change management with the divisions they support.  

  • Partner with the Medical leadership team to develop an integrated strategic roadmap with business strategy and technology roadmap that aligns with both MSNT and Stryker Enterprise strategy

  • Be a valuable functional member of the Medical Leadership table and deliver as a trusted advisor in driving technology solution and service differentiation for the division

  • Develop and direct the organization to build a budget in alignment with above to execute on the strategy

  • Create organizational strategy in alignment with global IS and Divisional strategy that will meet the goals defined. Accountable for continuously monitoring organization design to meet needs and adjust as necessary

  • Based on the organization design, hire and retain organization to accomplish these goals

  • Partner with other Division Leadership teams (including IS staff) to ensure alignment

  • Transform IS to a valued partner that is the enabler of the processes and people

  • Lead collaborative efforts for business case development

  • Charter and prioritize program and project initiatives in conjunction with division leadership

  • Liaise with other IS leaders to ensure alignment and a smooth integration of process output with the rest of the IS/IT environment

  • Manage external resources: from finalization of deals with external vendors within authorized budgets (cost and time) to monitor implementation resources and recommending any necessary corrective actions. 

  • Responsible for integrating, managing, leading any and all Medical acquisitions for IS.


  • Bachelor’s degree IT/IS, business or the equivalent discipline required

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional work experience ideally in IS/IT field

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Extensive knowledge (10+ years) of medical devices and/or pharmaceutical industry and basic knowledge of adjacent areas in terms of processes, organization, products and IS requirements

  • Project management experience, working with internal and external cross-divisional team members, preferably with IS projects

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization structure with significant emphasis on collaboration and persuasion, rather than relying entirely on command and control

  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with both divisional leaders and technical teams

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, engage and develop a high performing team

  • Good business acumen and negotiation skills

  • Strong organizational capabilities to manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated professional experience in IS and/or other related business discipline is required.

  • Ability to understand systems, interrelationships and recommend enhancements, and building IT strategy

  • Ability to work effectively across functions and build successful relationships in global matrix organization

  • Directly supervises employees at Manager level. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ongoing maintenance of skills on the most important deployed applications

  • Awareness of current and future trends in the industry and competitors
