The Demand Manager plans, directs and coordinates within the demand management team, process and technology. This function provides for an efficient and effective balance of customer care expectations, supply base capacity, demand forecasting and finished goods inventory management.

This role is a key member of the Demand Management governance body, providing input to, and defining processes for demand management activities. This person must be able to influence leaders across both commercial and supply agencies, easily translating aggregate values between volumetric and financial models. This is achieved through the development and deployment of demand planning and control processes, models and systems between the Division Business Unit, Division Shared Services and the Global Quality/Operations organizations.

Additional responsibilities of the Demand Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Develops business intelligence reporting using sound statistical practices
  • Responsible for creating predictive models that demonstrate anticipated outcomes of business decisions
  • Manages the data integrity and forecast process execution across NSE & NAV
  • Has program and project management responsibility for business and IT initiatives within the practice of Demand Management. Ensures that effective and efficient Demand Management Business processes and technologies are developed, deployed and improved through the business system and the quality system
  • Ensures the availability of our finished goods products in alignment with our commitment to an exceptional customer experience
  • Ensures that finished goods inventories are modeled in alignment with customer experience and financial requirements
  • Coordinates processes for periodic management review, communication and improvement of Demand Management related performance, process and technology across Division Business Units, Division Shared Services and Global Quality and Operations
  • Coordinates regularly with the Division Business Unit and Global Quality and Operations Demand Management Team to respond to and to support the adjustment of the Demand Planning model in support to changing market and business conditions
  • May train others in functionally related topics
  • Will have contact, electronically and in person across the global supply chain
  • Manages directly activities within the Demand Management Function, Contributes to overall departmental metrics, goals and priorities and evaluates subordinate's performance based on these metrics, goals and priorities
  • Coaches, mentors and develops Demand Management Personnel
  • Responsible for inter-departmental compliance with company policies and corrective actions
  • Ensures research and development of new Demand Planning processes and technologies to support growth of the business
  • Management of Sample Coordinator process & overall team and function

Job Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Life Sciences, Engineering or equivalent is required. An MBA is highly preferred. APICS certification is preferred. Lean Manufacturing Training is also preferred. Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools, training and/or certification experience is highly preferred.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:
  • A minimum of 5 years of business experience in Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing Operations is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory/people management experience is preferred
  • Excellent skills in developing business process and technology solutions for demand planning, inventory planning and production planning
  • Hands on work experience with inventory, planning, order management and MRP computer systems are required
  • Must have knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues. Prior experience with demand planning tools like Oracle Demantra, Demand Solutions or SteelWedge is a plus
  • Experience in two or more of the following disciplines are required: Supply Chain Planning, Demand Management/Forecasting, Logistics, Manufacturing, Procurement, Order Management, Inventory Management and/or Contract Manufacturing
  • Background in new product introductions and supplier metrics is preferred
  • ERP systems experience is required
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to drive results through a global matrix structure is required
  • Proven ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization
  • Strong managerial skills in a small team setting
  • Strong analytical / quantitative skills
  • Ability for decision making, to work under pressure, and capacity to make good judgment under critical situations
  • Accuracy and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment is essential for success
  • Must be proficient in Project Planning software, Flow Charts, and management of Database tools. Must have experience using statistical software packages and must be capable of extensive spreadsheet analysis
