  • Key champion for specific Sales Area with U.S. geography.  Drive the planning, direction and oversight of all Area activities, ensuring that Area financial targets (including sales & expense) are achieved.  Drive Area talent strategy, talent selection, and engagement activities.  

  • As a member of the senior management team, work closely with other functional leaders to develop and recommend short- and long-range objectives -- consistent with Stryker and divisional guidelines -- around vision, mission, market strategy, customer intelligence, voice of the customer, product, pricing, and business planning.  

  • Meet with and build long-term, sustainable relationships with key surgeons, clinicians, and evaluators in the Area to drive product innovation, clinical studies completion and medical education.

  • Manage a multi-site operations and sales force involved in end-to-end fulfillment of customer needs and expectations.

  • Achieve/exceed sales targets for Area, including sales quota, percent growth, new customer development, and market share growth

  • Achieve key financial indicators for Area, including but not limited to inventory metrics, pricing improvement, cost of sales, days sales outstanding (DSO).

  • Recruit, engage and retain Talent; measurement of success includes sales force quota achievement, talent reviews, succession planning and key talent metrics.

  • Direct and coach direct reports.

  • Build, develop, and coach team as well as communicate performance to expectations.

  • Work with leaders at sister Stryker divisions to strategize and deliver customer solutions.

  • Provide competitive and business information to Marketing, R&D, and/or Business Development organizations to provide insight to strategy, pricing, innovation projects and other business requirements.

  • Work closely with Marketing and Operations leaders to plan and ensure on-time and efficient product launches.

  • Represent Stryker at Area symposia, community practice marketing events, and national industry meetings.

  • Partner closely with leaders of other product categories located in branch to ensure smooth operations.

  • Analyze operations to evaluate performance of division to determine areas of cost reduction and program improvement.

  • Direct and coordinate organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.

  • Direct activities of organization to plan procedures, establish responsibilities, and coordinate functions among departments and sites.

  • Direct and coordinate activities of business concerned with production, pricing, sales, and distribution of products.

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans, sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.

  • Direct market channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.

  • Participate in product positioning and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share

  • Preside over or serve on management committees.

  • Meet with key clients, assisting sales team with maintaining/fostering relationships and negotiating and closing deals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field of study

  • MBA or other advanced business degree preferred

  • Extensive management experience required

  • Healthcare experience required

  • 10-15 years’ experience in business roles with increasing responsibility; healthcare or medical devices preferred

  • At least 5 of those years in high level sales management position 

  • Demonstrated direct selling experience; inclusive of consultative selling in medical device preferred

  • Demonstrated track record developing and managing a business or business plan and effectively managing assets

  • Prefer previous experience working in a collaborative selling environment

  • Demonstrated leadership talents and experience

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills including management of complex customer relationships in a healthcare setting (surgeons, clinicians, hospital administrators, GPOs and other Healthcare Professionals)

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence senior corporate leaders, sales leadership, surgeon/administration customers and internal Stryker organizations

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage the power and brand of Stryker through the coordination of cross-divisional selling approaches

  • Demonstrated strategic and operational execution skills

  • Proven ability to attract, engage and develop leadership talent, as well as engage talent across a dispersed employee group

  • Demonstrated ability to use performance management systems to conduct timely and meaningful performance planning, performance monitoring, feedback and performance reviews

  • Track record of identifying and removing underperforming employees

  • Demonstrated record of overachieving sales and financial goals (e.g., quota, days in inventory (DII), expense to budget, cost of sales, discretionary budgets). 

  • Demonstrated strategic, critical thinking, and problem resolution skills

  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen

  • Proven ability and desire to work with integrity and exhibit ethical behavior standards

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver complex presentations to corporate executives

  • Strong oral and written skills (both in groups and one-on-one interactions)

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver results with multiple and complex projects.
