The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for providing sourcing leadership for new product development projects at Stryker Mako in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  The Associate Sourcing Manager will develop & implement strategic sourcing activities and will obtain the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.

Additional responsibilities of the Sourcing Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in new product launches; lead supplier selection, requests for quotes and insurance that suppliers are clear on product launch deliverables; collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful launch
  • Support cross functional teams to develop best in class strategic sourcing strategies for assigned suppliers and/or commodities in support of business objectives
  • Support implementation of supplier and/or commodity strategy which will include spend/supply assessments, consolidation strategy, sourcing selection, financial and sourcing analyses
  • Support a contract strategy for suppliers and create, negotiate, monitor and enforce where applicable
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses. Represent the ‘voice of the supplier’ in the organization
  • Participate in assuring cost standards are established for annual operating budgets

Qualifications and Work Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering or related area of study is required.  MBA and/or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) is preferred.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing and supplier development.  Equivalent relevant work experience in manufacturing and/or project management may also be considered
  • Manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, buying, production planning or product development experience. Prefer FDA-regulated/aerospace/automotive or similar highly regulated industry is preferred
  • Knowledge and application of procurement strategy, market drivers, contract strategy & administration, contractual negotiations, and strong quantitative & analytical abilities
  • Experience leading complex projects and meeting challenging deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across various levels.  Must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive change
  • Must be challenged by a team-based environment which places a high degree of emphasis on accountability for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and quality/GMP compliance
  • Strong drive, persistence, results orientation and ability to sustain high energy
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking and creative problem solving
