The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for providing sourcing leadership for new product development projects at Stryker Mako in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The Sourcing Manager will develop & implement strategic sourcing activities and will obtain the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.

Specific responsibilities of the Sourcing Manager include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead supplier selection, requests for quotes and ensure that suppliers are clear on product launch deliverables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful product launch
  • Lead highly strategic cross functional sourcing teams and champion the strategic sourcing process within the organization
  • Lead the development and implementation of supplier and/or commodity strategy which will include spend/supply assessments, consolidation strategy, sourcing selection, financial and sourcing analyses
  • Develop, design, and implement the framework for the “Rules of Engagement” with regards to maintenance and compliance to our divisional and/or corporate purchasing controls
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute long-term agreements and/or full service supplier contracts, where appropriate, to include interfacing with the appropriate departments such as Legal, R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Senior Leadership for buy-in.
  • Utilize contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with finance, to validate the impact of proposed projects and drive stakeholder approval.
  • Present proposals, recommendations and results of commodity metrics to senior leadership routinely.
  • Use strategic sourcing tools to proactively conduct spend analysis, maintain cost models and metrics by supplier and commodity, and communicate overall supplier performance, trends in technologies, and market conditions with respect to assigned commodities.
  • Serve as resident expert on factors relevant to assigned commodity such as product knowledge, applications/usage, processing knowledge, cost structure, global market, supplier capabilities, supplier market share, supplier benchmarking, etc.
  • Serve as a commodity information resource for the organization,, including educating, coaching and mentoring other employees in Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing, Marketing and Product Development

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Work Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering or related area of study is required. MBA and/or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) is preferred.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:
  • 4-7 years’ experience in planning, purchasing, or supply management with a focus on strategic sourcing and supplier development or equivalent relevant work experience in manufacturing and/or project management
  • 2+ years of manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, buying, production planning or product development experience. Prefer FDA-regulated/aerospace/automotive or similar highly regulated industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement strategy, market drivers, contractual negotiations and strong quantitative & analytical abilities required
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and meet challenging deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; must be comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across various levels, including senior management Must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive change
  • Must be challenged by a team-based environment which places a high degree of emphasis on accountability for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and quality/GMP compliance
  • Strong drive, persistence, results orientation and ability to sustain high energy
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking and creative problem solving
