What you will do

As a Senior Staff R&D Engineer at Stryker Neurovascular you will be a member of a cross-functional project core team and lead a team of engineers to design and develop new technologies in the treatment of hemorrhagic stroke.  Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Understands, analyzes, and troubleshoots and selects techniques to solve very complex problems and make sound design recommendations

  • Designs and coordinates complex engineering tests and experiments.

  • Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from complex test results.

  • Takes initiative to reach out to external expertise (team, function, division, company) to resolve technical issues.

  • Works with appreciable latitude for independent action or decision. Self-manages time, completes all tasks with minimal guidance. Influences design direction across a project(s).

  • Understands cross-functional roles & responsibilities as outlined by the Quality System and achieves communal goals of R&D projects.

  • Works collaboratively with others to achieve business objectives.

  • Performs as a Core Team Member for NPD and Product Design Change projects and as Technical Team Member for TDP projects.

  • Works with existing vendors and assesses new vendors. Identifies need for dual sourcing.

  • May train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers.

  • Uses engineering principles and techniques in areas such as statics, strength of materials, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, statistics, IP, test method development, medical device design, process technology, engineering analyses (CFD, FEA, Multi-Physics, etc), Design of Experiments, clinical and pre-clinical med device design standards / regulations while working on assigned projects and solving problems.

What you need

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering field.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience; experience in medical device development with working knowledge of design control principles, preferred

  • Prior experience in interventional radiology, cardiology, and/or neuroradiology devices and techniques highly preferred.

  • Strong technical skills balanced with project management talent, preferred

  • Demonstrated success leading technical teams through product development from translating user needs into design inputs through design verification and validation, preferred
