Responsibilities

The Sr. Sourcing Manager will provide leadership for the development and implementation of all strategic sourcing activities in assigned suppliers and/or commodities with the goal of obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. 

The Sr. Sourcing Manager will also lead cross functional efforts to develop and implement sourcing strategies including cost reduction initiatives, new product development, supply base optimization and rationalization, quality improvements, risk assessments, and contract negotiations. 


Additional responsibilities of the Sr. Sourcing Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide leadership to functional teams in the development of best in class strategic sourcing strategies for assigned suppliers and/or commodities in support of business objectives
  • Lead the development and implementations of supplier and/or commodity strategy which will include spend/supply assessments, consolidation strategy, sourcing selection, financial and sourcing analyses
  • Lead, create, negotiate, monitor and enforce supplier contract strategy
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses. Represent the ‘voice of the supplier’ in the organization
  • Provide leadership for new product launches; lead supplier selection, requests for quotes and insurance that suppliers are clear on product launch deliverables; collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful launch
  • Assure that cost standards are established for annual operating budgets

Qualifications and Work Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering or related area of study is required. MBA and/or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) is preferred.  Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is also preferred, but not required.


Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:

  • 8+ years of experience in planning, purchasing or supply management with a focus on strategic sourcing and supplier development
  • 2 + years of manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, buying, production planning or product development experience. FDA-regulated/aerospace/automotive or similar highly regulated industry is preferred
  • Experience working with new product development projects in a sourcing, supplier management or engineering focus required
  • Knowledge and application of procurement strategy, market drivers, contract strategy & administration, contractual negotiations, and strong quantitative & analytical abilities
  • Experience leading complex projects and meeting challenging deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; must be comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across various levels, including senior management Must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive change
  • Must be challenged by a team-based environment which places a high degree of emphasis on accountability for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and quality/GMP compliance
  • Strong drive, persistence, results orientation and ability to sustain high energy
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking and creative problem solving
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical abilities
