Job Description

Drives Product and/or Process Innovation.  Provides input and support on new technology developments and implementation to Research and Development and Process Development teams.

Is responsible for planning and executing engineering aspects of new technology Projects occasionally leading and training team members on technical aspects of product commercialization.

  • Researches and nurtures new technology platforms that will eliminate design constraints and lead to breakthrough new products and technologies
  • Accelerate the launch of new products by removing the technology unknowns
  • Support collaborative project needs across existing research streams within R&TD group
  • Research, design and prototype custom medical devices and systems.
  • Communicate project status internally and externally as required. . 
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Science with 4 or more years of experience or Master of Eng/Science with 2 or more years experience. 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, excellent analytical & problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks using independent judgement in a fast paced environment.
  • Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Good instincts and sound judgment for mechanical and structural design
  • Use of creativity tools for idea and concept generation.
  • Good understanding of statistical tools and validation/verification techniques.
  • Ideally has good knowledge of human anatomy and common surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of project Management tools is essential
  • Experience working in Medical Device or other regulated industry.
  • Ability to read, understand and generate complex engineering drawings, electrical schematics and component datasheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to use small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for live surgery visits and global partner collaboration, and work on international assignments.
