Senior Regional Delivery Manager – Japan – Position Description

The Senior Regional Delivery Manager leads the facilitation and deployment of learning and development solutions from the Stryker core curriculum. This position is a member of the Regional Learning Delivery Leadership Team and will work closely with the Country / assigned geography Business and HR colleagues to deliver learning and development solutions to the right learner at the right time.

Develops, implements and evaluates employee development plans and programs to support organizational needs as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines such as management development, talent management, succession planning, technical or nontechnical training, or e-learning Monitors employee development and training programs, assesses needs and results, develops new programs and modifies existing programs 

This is a highly specialized role that requires deep expertise from a professional / technical thought leader in their respective field or discipline. This position typically requires extensive experience in a specialized field and an advanced college degree or equivalent. As a key expert, the job requires in-depth knowledge and understanding within one discipline.

They are regarded within the organization as a technical 'expert' in their particular field. The job covers a wide range of activities that require complex judgements and solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions. This job typically requires a degree or equivalent and a minimum of 10 or more years experience.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Lead the facilitation and deployment of learning and development solutions from the Stryker core curriculum to the country / assigned geography.
    • Conduct needs analysis with local leaders to determine the right learning solutions.
    • Manage course communication, enrollment, and facilitator assignments
    • Conduct / facilitate core learning and development programs in the country / assigned region as needed i.e. LEAD 100, 200, Talent Acquisition, Orientation 
    • Manage faculty through Train-the-Trainers to deliver core curriculum.
    • Make appropriate adjustments to curriculum as needed to meet cultural needs of region / function / BU to ensure relevancy
  • Partner with Talent Management Learning Design and Development team to improve Stryker’s developmental offering / roadmap, online platform and content based on stakeholder feedback
  • Consult with HR Business Partners and Business Leaders within region on delivery of development programs.  Partner with HR leaders within region to assess development needs, source solutions, collect feedback and evolve program offerings.
  • Provide meaningful metrics and data to demonstrate the value of programs and support ongoing enhancements.
  • Support additional Enterprise Talent Management efforts as needed based on local capacity (Succession Planning, Q12, 360, Strengths Coaching, New Leader Assimilation / Onboarding, Local Rotational Development Programs)
  • Partner with Quality in support of Quality management system training activity and record keeping for audit purposes including SLMS.
  • Partner with local functional learning and development (Sales, Finance, RAQA) to ensure utilization and alignment of programming and minimize redundancy / duplication of efforts
     

Education & special trainings:

  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in the areas of human resources, organization development, training and development, and/or talent management in a team-based environment, or related business experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of program facilitation and learning and development program design and development required.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in talent management, performance development, or related functional specialty.
  • Fluency in local language is required for this role
  • Experience with leadership development tools, programs, and processes.
  • Global leadership and / or US multinational experience preferred
  • Proven experience managing and leading remote teams with a strong focus on developing trusted relationships with the business.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders across business units and functions to align on solutions
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer relations and building strong and influential relationships at all levels within an organization; problem solving and proactive service orientation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to package information in clear, concise executive level ready format
  • Proven ability to drive programs, lead people through change and meet deliverables in a complex environment
  • Strong written ,verbal communication (local language) and presentation skills
     

Physical & mental requirements:

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Generally, involves sitting most of the time.
  • Must be able to operate common office equipment (e.g. computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc.).
  • Must be able to review printed and handwritten materials.
  • Must be able to communicate telephonically and with large groups of people.
