Job Description

Our Senior Manager of Project Management will evaluate a range of programs and projects within our Information Systems portfolio.  This position is integral to prioritization of our global projects and ensuring resources are properly aligned across our projects. The Senior Manager will manage one or more projects, in addition to facilitating staffing, resolving resource allocation conflicts, and leading future demand planning across the portfolio.

This is a terrific opportunity to lead the strategic vision, execution, maintenance, and quality assurance for projects and programs within the Information Systems portfolio and support our global Information Services initiatives.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive milestone plan for the portfolio, based on the current plans of each constituent project or program.
  • Monitor overall progress of the portfolio, with particular focus on budgets, key milestones, resources, and dependencies.
  • Monitor staff utilization to ensure individuals are effectively contributing to the organization while developing skills and gaining experience.
  • Report progress of the portfolio to senior management with specific emphasis on business objectives delivery, efficient resource deployment, effective risk and issue management, portfolio volatility with respect to scope and quality changes, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to the annual planning and budgetary process for the function.
  • Ensure timely allocation of required resources and communicate potential resourcing issues that may impact scheduled deadlines.
  • Maintain up-to-date profiles of skills, knowledge, and assignment information for program and project management resources.
  • Identify potential instances of under and over utilization resources.
  • Actively work with portfolio and program managers to plan for or resolve staffing fluctuations.
  • Participate in the development of resourcing strategies and maintenance of accurate job descriptions.
  • Coach project management staff on career development and provide them targeted development opportunities.
  • Evaluate project management staff’s performance based on their ability to demonstrate critical skills such as influence, judgment and stakeholder partnership.
  • Provide timely feedback to help project management staff create targeted individual development plans and self-monitor their performance.
  • Encourage and enable project managers to access peers from within their team and across the organization to get help, share information, and source ideas.
  • Measure, review, and audit projects and program management to ensure conformance to organization standards.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships at all levels, particularly with business partners.
  • Identify and plan systematic corrective action to reduce errors and improve the quality of the projects through root cause examination.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and recommend strategic steps to capitalize on opportunities that will have a significant effect on profit and/or operational effectiveness for the whole organization.
  • Direct and lead significant improvement programs, taking responsibility for the quality and appropriateness of the work performed.
  • Ensure new methods and tools are adopted by end users.
  • Exercise independent and fair consensus-building skills when conflict arises.

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMP/PMI certification or Prince2 highly preferred.
  • Minimum10+ years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting.
  • Proven project management and leadership skills and a good knowledge of business analysis.
  • Understanding policy framework, management structures, and reporting procedures for all aspects of project and program management.
  • Proficiency in the roles of project manager, senior project manager, and program manager (preferred but not required)

  • Has excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to set, observe, and re-evaluate priorities frequently.
