Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst - Cost Accounting will analyze and forecast financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and economic indicators so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making strategic and operational decisions on, for example, acquisitions, investments, capital expenditure, divestitures, mergers, or the sale of assets. Analyze the financial implications of proposed investments or other transactions so that senior managers can evaluate alternatives against the organization's business objectives. Evaluate industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's short, medium and long-term financial and competitive position. Data analyzed may include revenues, expenses, costs, prices, investments, cash flow, profits, labor market trends, inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates.  

What you will do:

  • Manage preparation of annual budget and monthly projections for all inventory adjustment expenses as well as gross/net inventory balances
  • Assessment and necessary corrective action of key reserve and accrual account balances
  • Own financial database and provide business intelligence for all business unit performance indicators—update/modify with the ever-changing business unit needs
  • Primary analyst supporting manager in annual internal controls (SOX) evaluations, including facilitation of sample testing
  • Partner with materials Team Leaders on all Fixed/Variable expenses, provide analytical explanations of actual to budget, actual to projection, and actual to prior year variances, and direct manager’s attention to opportunities for corrective action
  • Host monthly Business Reviews with key stakeholders providing expense analysis and trends
  • Develop and document all monthly, quarterly, annual, and audit-related business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal (SOX) controls and support external assessments
  • Provide feedback as the subject matter expert in the development of Corporate financial policies and assist in policy implementation
  • Prepares reports, analyses, and special studies as needed and assists management with general and financial accounting projects
  • Focus on customer satisfaction, solve problems through a consultative approach, operate with honesty and integrity, and provide a highly responsive level of customer service
  • Commit to quality by continuously searching for ways to enhance performance while meeting all training and documentation criteria

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent in one of the following disciplines: Finance or Accounting
  • 2+ years related industry experience
  • Intermediate level of industry (GAAP/SOX) and operations manufacturing knowledge
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Hyperion Enterprise, JD Edwards (ERP), and Microsoft Query experience
  • Pursuing MSA, MSF, MBA, and/or CMA or CPA, preferred (not required)
