Job Description

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Aerospace engineering (OR)

    Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Aerospace engineering preferred
  • 3+ years of experience (with Bachelor’s) or 1+ years of experience (with Master’s) designing electro-mechanical devices. 
  • Demonstrated experience with systems engineering principles as it applies to medical device development from concept phase to final design and commercial release.
  • Preferred Orthopedic experience with knee, hip, ankle, shoulder, spine is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with software’s such as MATLAB, 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Pro-E) and statistical analysis tools (Minitab).
  • Demonstrated experience with creation of design specifications and requirements definition.
  • Demonstrated experience with use of risk management practices applied to medical device development.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing test protocols/procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and creating detailed reports.
  • Ability to accurately set and meet dates/times for issue resolutions or updates.
  • Keen sense of teamwork is highly essential
  • Must be detail oriented with strong written, verbal, interpersonal, computer, and organizational skills
  • Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able and flexible to work well under changing priorities in a high energy and demanding environment.

  • Work under supervision with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communicate design goals and incorporate feedback into designs
  • Design and implement complex concepts, draft design documentation, plan and conduct relevant tests under professional leadership
  • Manage the technical product development activities to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Work diligently to project schedules as determined by project leaders and clearly communicate status of assignments, coordinate tasks, and shift priorities as dictated by project demands;
  • Apply processes and standards to ensure compliance per regulatory standards and Stryker’s Quality System
  • Integrate and administer development tools including required validation under close professional leadership
  • Ability to share best practices and own project experiences within the team.
  • Investigate defined issues with uncertain cause including input solicitation and data gathering that help differentiate the symptoms and root cause of defined problems and propose problem resolutions.
  • Through sound engineering problem-solving techniques, manage and resolve system field issues reported through the complaint process.
  • Support the engineers during risk assessments and root cause investigations to meet the company metrics for timely handling of complaints and CAPA activities
  • Meet the needs of internal customers such as GQO, AO, AQE etc. as applicable for specific project assignments
  • Develop a strong understanding of the clinical application of Stryker’s robotic solutions and product line
