What you will do The Sr. R&D Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of engineering work in support of reprocessing medical devices including design and development of existing components, products, processes and tooling.  The Sr. R&D Engineer provides technical skills, engaging internal and external capabilities as needed, to ensure that appropriate test and evaluation of reprocessed medical devices are implemented to ensure high quality and reliability.In this role, you will plans and direct new product development, perform both processes and product development activities, leads design team activity to modify plans as appropriate if problems arise, and improve/support existing processes. The Senior Engineer approaches complex problems with an inquisitive nature and embraces multifaceted inputs to develop comprehensive & creative solutions.  This position troubleshoots product issues, determines root cause failure, and implement corrective actions.The Senior Engineer possesses proficiency with project management principles to effectively meet technology readiness objectives and other project milestones to achieve desired outcomes.  This position will plan and direct new product development including leading design team activity to perform root cause analysis and modify plans as appropriate.  The role will also establish test protocols specified by customer input, national and international standards, and regulatory requirements.The Senior Engineer will also lead the development of technical protocols and reports to support technology readiness confidence levels and other project milestones, sponsor studies with test facility for clinical feedback as applicable, and provides leadership in business updates/presentations to management and stakeholders.  There is potential supervisory responsibilities of interns or R&D technicians for new technology/platform execution however, this role does provide leadership and mentorship for other engineers.,What you need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineer or other Engineering related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Biomedical Engineering

  • 1+ years medical device experience

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Project, Visio.

  • Internet research regarding materials, processes, equipment, and vendors.

  • Ability to direct development of an action plan and estimate requirements for resources – management, tasks, budgets, labor, materials, and time required to complete projects.

  • Advanced knowledge of FDA requirements associated with the development of medical devices including Design Control and the technical support required for regulatory submissions preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology/concepts related to medical devices.

  • Familiar with material/component analysis methods for metallic and non-metallic materials/components such as; hardness, micro-hardness, surface finish, dimensional, tensile, torque, polymer analytical chemistry, etc.

  • RSS and Six Sigma tolerance analysis methods.

  • Vendor selection and oversight.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan/prioritize activities.

  • Ability to work in dynamic team and company setting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present issues, plans and objectives.

  • Ability to work in fast paced organization, meeting multiple deadlines and succeeding under pressure is a must.

  • Motivated, resourceful, ambitious, enthusiastic and attentive to detail.
