Stryker is seeking to hire a Senior Engineer, Advanced Operations to support new product development of Endoscopy products in San Jose, CA.

As the Senior Engineer, Advanced Operations in new product development you will be responsible for designing, validating and bringing new product manufacturing processes and technology to market.

As the Senior Engineer, Advanced Operations you will design, develop, and validate manufacturing processes for new products. You will specify precise new product functional requirements; design, test and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety.

As the Senior Engineer, Advanced Operations you will design, develop, execute and evaluate fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. You will collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturing.

In this role you will utilize CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Independently determine and develop approaches to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Use the latest engineering techniques to reduce product time to market whilst adhering to regulatory requirements, project deadlines and product costs. 
  • Build productive internal and external working relationships and may periodically provide guidance and train to other team members.
  • Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions, ensuring that all activities are completed and documented in accordance with the Stryker new product development procedures.
  • Ensure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specifications.
  • Will select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements. Work with R&D and AO engineers to develop equipment and tools to support new and advanced manufacturing processes.
  • May lead/support capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment, contract negotiation, Installation and validation.
  • Will analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental test and result analysis. Lead and/or participate in process review meetings.
  • Participate in DFM, PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and PPAP generation associated with product transfers and launches.
  • Conduct MSA studies for new products and new processes.
  • Provide training for manufacturing team members.
  • Ensure adherence to GMP and safety procedures.
  • Review and approval of validation documentation.
  • Introduce new manufacturing technology

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. (Mechanical preferred). Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.  
  • 3+ years engineering experience required.
  • Modeling experience in Solidworks and Creo highly preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and have a good understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Prior new product development and integration experience preferred.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated or regulated industry beneficial.
