What you will do-

This role is a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, R&D position in Surgical Technologies, a new and rapidly growing business unit.  Surgical Technologies is a startup business under the umbrella of Stryker Surgical, one of the largest business units at Stryker.  Projects in Surgical Technologies consist of electro-mechanical devices used to make healthcare better, primarily in the operating room of a hospital.

As the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, R&D, you will develop PCBAs, cable routing, and other electrical systems for new products within R&D.  You will have the opportunity to work alongside other Design Engineers (Mechanical, Electrical and Software) to ensure outstanding products are created, in addition to working with supporting functions (Project Management, Operations, Sourcing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.) as a key part of the overall product development team.

Additional Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for researching, designing and developing electrical systems
  • Works closely and collaboratively with other members of the development team in a fast-paced team environment
  • Responsible for achieving relevant performance, time-to-market objectives, and product and project cost targets, all while achieving product quality goals
  • Ensures that sound application of engineering principles, practices and procedures are being used and design intent is being achieved
  • Develops requirements, design, and testing strategies according to user needs, internal and external standards and regulatory requirements
  • Identifies root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluates them against requirements
  • Participates in project planning activities on a macro (e.g. block diagram from project start to finish) up to a micro level (task level on a day-by-day basis)
  • Ensures the integrity and security of company intellectual property and confidential data
  • Follows the company’s standards for product development and quality process and complies with quality management system procedures

What you need-

Qualified candidates would be engineers with a history of success in new product development or impressive academic performance if early in their careers.  Additionally, applicants should be those who are excited about influencing the culture and direction of a new business within Stryker.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • B.S. in electrical engineering or related engineering curriculum 
  • 2+ years of industry experience in electro-mechanical design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of schematic editing software
  • Ability to convert complex technical issues to actionable tasks and then to successful outcomes through personal action
  • Demonstrated high level of technical competency in product design & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively work & collaborate in global team settings
  • Versatility, flexibility, ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present issues, plans and objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with different disciplines and customers
  • Demonstrated skills of collaborating with others and contributing to an engaging culture
