Position summary:

Stryker’s Finance Centers of Excellence (CoE) are located across three regions (Americas, Europe, and Asia).  Each is responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient delivery of accounting and financial reporting for the regions they service. The Americas CoE will be the primary location and owner of Global Finance processes, governance and systems across the regions.

The Senior Director, Americas Finance CoE will serve as the single point of accountability for the successful functioning of the Americas Finance CoE. The CoE leader will create the vision of global governance for inventory and intercompany accounting and master data management. The CoE leader will successfully implement the strategy and lead ongoing operations and delivery of continuous improvement consistent with defined productivity metrics. Additionally, this Leader will be responsible for expanding the footprint of the Americas Finance CoE, to support growth and fully establish the Finance CoE model in the Americas. He/she will ensure accountability for the delivery of all Finance CoE services in partnership with Stryker's business and Finae functional leaders.

Additional responsibilities include organizational and capability design and development, managing and maintaining vendor and business relationships, CoE talent management, partnership with business and Finance leaders and accountability for the establishment, maintenance, and effectiveness of financial and operational controls across all processes managed by the CoE.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must have strong leadership, communication, collaboration skills and global mindset
  • Set the governance and execution strategy for the functional areas of inventory accounting, complex accounting, intercompany accounting and master data management
  • Keep abreast of external trends and benchmarks and provide revised service level commitments that are optimally configured to regional concerns
  • Set the direction for driving efficiencies across all areas within the CoE
  • Prepare presentations and provide critical input into senior management discussions and strategy planning (e.g., Finance Leadership Team)
  • Create a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Act as a talent steward for CoE employees, including identifying and developing staff, educating and empowering, and assessing opportunities to realign work and team structures to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.
  • Foster a culture in the Americas CoE focused on all aspects of employee development, including the oversight of goal setting, establishing and sharing of best practices, workload balancing, teambuilding, professional development, and general operating parameters for the CoE
  • Position the CoE to successfully transition, stabilize and deliver process improvements for all activities received in the center
  • Create global governance structures for intercompany accounting and master data management and expands inventory accounting governance globally
  • Serve as strategic advisor to the top leader(s) of the Global Finance Transformation program
  • Provide critical thinking and influence by helping to link the strategic agenda to the execution of activities in the CoE
  • Develop and implemenr ideas for preventative actions resulting from audit data

Education & special trainings:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA/CA required

Qualifications & experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience leading complex accounting activities in global organizations is required; 15+ years’ experience preferred
  • A broad and comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and its practical application
  • Fluency in English required
  • Transformational project leadership that include business process design, such as Finance processes, system conversions and M&A integration
  • Extensive knowledge of finance practices, accounting & auditing principles and the analysis and reporting of financial and operational data
  • Past involvement with systems implementation and/or integrations is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a global, matrix structure and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively articulate an issue or point of view to a varied audience both verbally and in writing
  • Strong communication skills including demonstrated ability to interact with senior management and influence outcomes across all levels of the organization to drive the Finance CoE strategy
  • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and project or program management
  • Ability to meet the rigorous deadlines of a growth-oriented company; ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities, coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and define business problems and identify appropriate operational or process solutions

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
