Job Description

Responsible for post-market mechanical design support of Neuro and Spine electro-mechanical medical devices. Application of mechanical engineering skill set to improve product reliability, optimize product cost, design for manufacturability, support line-downs, and maintain or improve product safety and effectiveness. Detailed tasks include:

  • Complex problem solving to determine root cause of product/process failures
  • Design and development of mechanical systems
  • Generate design requirements specifications
  • Conduct risk analysis
  • Diagnosis and remediation of production issues should they arise
  • Development of design verification and validation tests
  • Collaboration with cross-functional team to implement design/process improvements
  • Create Change Requests and Change Orders for mechanical changes and coordinate their release
  • Reading, analyzing and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to engineering prints to evaluate print changes
  • Analyzing and performing complex stack-up analysis involving assemblies with multiple components
  • Performing 3-D CAD modeling in the redesign of current parts
  • Applying engineering statistics to test reports to justify proposed changes meet or exceed established acceptance criteria

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience in mechanical design, or equivalent

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Solid Modeling Design tools, ProEngineer Creo preferred
  • Experience with PLM systems, Windchill preferred
  • Experience with injection molding, casting, sheet metal, cable design and fabrication processes
  • Experience with FEA or other analysis tools for stress and thermal
  • Experience with tolerance analysis
  • Experience with Design for Reliability, Manufacturing and Service
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma or other statistics based development methodologies
