Job Description



Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide support to R&D, AO and GQO personnel for the generation and maintenance of engineering drawings and specifications for finished products, components, raw materials, sub assemblies, jigs/fixtures and assembly aids.
  • Perform extensive engineering related computations. Prepare CAD drawings, layouts and estimates based upon calculations made by engineers. Check drawing calculations and tolerances. Develop or prepare schematics from designs made by others and make recommendations as necessary.
  • Will be required to comply with documentation and Computer Aided Design (CAD) procedures for the creation, maintenance and control of all product related documentation including engineering drawings, engineering specifications and graphic artwork.
  • May be required to develop and maintain CAD related procedures.
  • Provides guidance to Co op/Intern and CAD Technicians and Engineers on CAD and modelling methods and GD&T.
  • Generate 3D printed components
  • May be required to organise or conduct training sessions on Pro-E. Will be required to provide support, demonstrations and/or coaching in same and related features.
  • Install and maintain new software revision levels for Pro Engineer.


Qualifications Knowledge Skills

  • Diploma in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience
  • 2 years CAD/CAM experience
  • A working knowledge of Pro Engineer, VG Pro, PowerSHAPE or another High -Level CAD system is required
  • Ability to visualize 2D and 3D CAD component geometry.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and generate complex engineering drawings and have a good understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately.
  • Must be able to generate, follow and explain detailed proposals and operating procedures (i.e. engineering sketches, assembly instructions, inspection procedures)
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, technical drawings/tolerances, product appearance, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer hardware/software skills (Windows, Word, Excel,)
  • Demonstrated mechanical/mathematical skills.
