Job Description

The Senior Compliance Informatics Analyst serves as the main point of contact for compliance informatics systems as the primary Administrator and is a member of the Corporate Compliance team.  Viewed as an inter-divisional subject matter expert (SME) who may provide support directly or indirectly to multiple business units within the area of responsibility and to other compliance professionals across the corporation.  Responsibilities may encompass multiple functional areas related to compliance, such as: training, health care professional interactions, indirect sales channels, high risk third party vendors, forensics, investigations, privacy, auditing and monitoring.  Makes decisions of minimal to moderate impact and exercises independent judgment; may consult with manager. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing strong relationships throughout area of responsibility to foster an advisory or collaborative approach to proactive compliance. 
  • Maintains high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates standards relating to compliance.  These include, but are not limited to Stryker Corporate Policies and Procedures, industry trends and guidance on country, state/provincial or local laws.
  • Ensures that employees and other identified parties utilize established systems, processes and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for ongoing monitoring and auditing of compliance systems and processes and reporting to compliance leadership with regard to effectiveness.
  • Responsible for identifying system or process improvements that increase efficiency, compliance or reduce cost to the business and that drives consistency. Incorporates department operating principles into all activities.
  • Makes recommendations to compliance leadership, develops and executes plans to implement recommendations in conjunction with compliance management.
  • Effectively plans, communicates, and implements a broad variety of tasks related to area of responsibility.
  • Serves as a main point of contact for compliance informatics systems as the primary Administrator for specific system(s) as assigned; responsibilities include functionality training and support, providing direction when bringing a location / division up on the system, ensuring the workflow configuration functions properly for each location / division, ensuring account maintenance is properly executed, etc.
  • Facilitates specific day-to-day operations of compliance systems, through collaboration with all stakeholders including global users representing multiple functional areas, internal Information Systems (“IS”) representatives, global “super-users,” leadership, SME’s, vendor representatives, etc. This may include reported incidents or issues, i.e., “bugs”, user knowledge deficit and tracking requested enhancements.
  • Tracks user reported incidents or issues and provides analysis and recommendations based on key system and support metrics. 
  • Provides expertise on report functionality, report validation and provides standard reports where appropriate.  Generates ad-hoc reports to meet stakeholder needs / requests and trains users to generate ad-hoc reports as appropriate according to the system and data type limitations. 
  • Provides assigned compliance system expertise and participates in cross functional teams to: 1) Evaluate, prioritize and implement resolution of reported incidents / user issues to compliance systems; 2) Develop and launch system changes and / or new systems that support global applications and  that promote consistent usage and processes; 3) In consultation with stakeholders, assist in prioritizing enhancement requests; 4) As required, test system changes prior to launch as part of user acceptance testing and validation; 5) Assist with resolving issues that may arise as a result of system modifications / upgrades
  • Participates as assigned in drafting and revising policies, procedures and work instructions that are a foundational element to a compliance informatics system.
  • Responds to requests for reports to develop and present accurate metrics for internal use to track performance of the systems and service delivery to the identified user groups.
  • Provide assigned system expertise and collaborate with manager and corporate compliance training subject matter experts to ensure relevant training materials are available to support system users.
  • Perform related work as assigned by the Director, Legal and Compliance Informatics.

Education & Special Training:

  • Diploma required, Undergraduate degree preferred.  

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience is required with an undergraduate degree, or 6 - 8 years professional experience without undergraduate degree.
  • Systems administration, vendor management, application support, architecture, design or coding experience preferred.
  • Possesses and practically applies broad and advanced knowledge skills/abilities and understanding of disciplines within business application.
  • Demonstrates well-developed ability to anticipate impact and proactively take initiative beyond direct responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates professional demeanor and is perceived as highly competent with developing management/leadership skills.
  • High volume or complex work is completed in a timely and thorough manner with minimal rework.
  • Well-developed ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Works under minimal supervision and instruction of management.
  • Demonstrates developing managerial/influence skills.
  • Basic understanding of budgets and expense management.
  • May make decisions of moderate financial impact.
