Job Description

The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for the financial reporting and analysis for certain commercial business units and internal departments. This will include both standard and ad-hoc reporting relating to monthly divisional sales, P&L’s and departmental expenses. This role is a key contributor to explaining monthly performance and variances to budget or forecast. This individual must serve as a contributing member of the Finance team while championing Stryker’s Vision, Promise and Mission.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed financial analysis and follow-up on commercial business unit monthly performance versus budget or forecast related to gross-margin and price/volume
  • Analyze and report on monthly departmental and cost center expense variances to budget or forecast
  • Prepare flash and actual commentary for Canada, Divisions and Group Reporting
  • Responsible for ad-hoc analysis and information requests from Canadian business unit leaders, Divisional leaders and Canada leadership team (CLT)
  • Works collaboratively with business partners in preparation and distribution of standard business unit reports
  • Play an integral role in modeling new initiatives and project implementation
  • Direct involvement in the preparation of budgets, projections, and strategic plans for Stryker Canada and business units
  • Assist with loading of budget, projection, and strategic plan information into HFM for income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and headcount reporting
  • Preparation of PowerPoint slide decks for business reviews, budget/forecast meetings, and any other high level meetings
  • Drives continuous improvement with respect to quality of financial information (timeliness, accuracy, clarity, transparency) as well as processes and procedures

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Skill Requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills (designing, building, and maintaining files)
  • Capable of analyzing and resolving complex questions related to financial statements
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and manage projects to a timely conclusion
  • Works well under pressure to meet tight timelines without compromising accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly present financial data to various levels of management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable dealing with all levels of management and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
  • Highly proactive and action oriented with a willingness to drive improvements and change
  • The ability to think outside the box in relation to process improvement and data integrity

Education & Qualifications
  • Degree in Business with a concentration in accounting/finance is required
  • CPA (CGA, CMA, CA) is required
  • 3-5 years of budget/forecast planning and/or accounting experience
  • Knowledge of Oracle 11i ERP, HFM or Cognos would be an asset
  • Internal applicants with an equivalent combination of education, experience, and performance over time at Stryker will be considered
