Job Description

Basic purpose of role/Why the job exists:
The main objective of this role is to achieve sales goals, including sales growth and profit targets across allocated territories of the product portfolio. This includes building new clients and maintaining and providing service to existing clients. The role works closely with the portfolio’s marketing personnel and with business development and corporate communications staff to lead and implement sales strategies for the portfolio’s business. The position holder provides leadership to sales staff to achieve and optimize business growth, sales and profit targets in their designated territory. The position holder is also responsible for developing a successful, talented, knowledgeable and motivated sales force. All aspects of the role must be in compliance with company policy and procedures and the requirements of ISO9001:2000.

Key areas of accountability:
  • Achievement of sales objectives including sales growth, market share, number and percentage of territory achieving budget targets and profit objectives, competitor knowledge, inventory and service levels
  • Support for systematic and professional product launches and recalls across territories
  • Systematic business improvements across sales process
  • Service standards, the reputation of SSP and strength of business relationships within the medical devices market
  • Success and development of individual team members and strength of sales talent
  • Corporate policy, legislation and quality compliance to meet national and international standards.
  • Appropriate risk and asset management across all areas of responsibility
  • Employee engagement scores (Q12)
Critical Requirements (eg: skills, experience, qualifications):
  • Sales management methodologies, capability development and coaching techniques
  • Industry knowledge including competitors, clients and potential clients, trends and pricing issues
  • Product knowledge, knowledge of the medical and hospital industries to build effective relationships
  • Recruitment and induction processes
  • Rewards, incentive and motivational systems and application to a sales environment
  • Financial analysis, budgets and forecasting requirements
  • Medical terminology or similar technical background advantageous
  • Continuous improvement processes and practices for sales and business development
  • Sales, sales negotiation and business development skills
  • Capability to effectively achieve sales and drive long term business objectives
  • Sales and people development skills to build and drive a productive sales culture across designated territories

Desirable Requirements (eg: skills, experience, qualifications):
  • Sales management in a technology related industry with a demonstrated track record of success in sales and winning new business
  • Team management and operating effectively as part of a sales leadership team with accountability for targeted results
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business or related discipline.

  • Travel and on-call as required
