Job Description

Summary: This position ensures that all purchased, in-process, and completed product
is manufactured within specifications regarding configuration, dimension, aesthetics,
contamination, surface finish, packaging/ labeling, and material properties to meet the
company’s quality and GMP requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  •  Under supervision, performs visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of

raw material, components, in-process, and final product based on documented

company specifications (i.e. drawings, procedures, work instructions, etc.) with a high

degree of accuracy

  •  Record inspections by entering them into the computerized quality database
  •  Transacts parts in inventory control system (JDE)
  •  Initiates nonconformance reports (NCRs) to prescribed procedures
  •  Effectively supports and follows policies and procedures

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  •  Ability to read complex mechanical blueprints
  •  Experience with ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Tolerancing
  •  Working knowledge of GMP compliance for Class II Medical Devices
  •  Must be able to accurately document and maintain records
  •  Must have at least basic knowledge using measurement equipment such as
  • calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, video measurement equipment, plug
  • gauges, etc.
  •  Basic understanding of thread specifications and classifications
  •  Basic understanding of machining processes
  •  Statistical sampling plan ANSI Z1.4 (Previously MIL Std. 105E) experience
  • preferred
  •  FDA QSR (cGMP) knowledge required, ISO 13485 also preferred
  •  Excellent English written and verbal communication skills required
  •  Excellent math skills required

Education/Experience:

High school Diploma or GED; some college or technical training preferred. 2-3 years

quality or manufacturing related experience and/or training preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,

technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business

correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and

respond to questions from groups of managers, surgeons, customers, and the general

public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,

proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of

basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

A Quality Inspector must be able to investigate product problems by reviewing travelers,

pick lists, and history forms to determine the chain of events based on part numbers,

quantities, dates, and signatures, to avoid potential product recalls and FDA citations.

This person must be able to constantly make decisions concerning the acceptability of

product based on specifications, standards, and training. The position requires the ability

to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,

or diagram form.

Computer Skills:

Must have good computer skills and experience with database, spreadsheet, and word

processing software (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word preferable).
