Job Description

Assist in management of multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks so that project deadlines are met. Evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. Lead engineering projects; monitor progress and performance against the project plan; identify and resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Manage ongoing relationships with external contractors so that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service. 

This is a highly specialized individual contributor role that requires deep expertise from a professional / technical thought leader in their respective field or discipline. This position typically requires extensive experience in a specialized field and an advanced college degree or equivalent. The role requires expertise within a discipline in a specialized field. The job provides technical guidance and direction for his/ her area of specialization. The job requires good analytical skills as well as evaluative judgement based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations. The complexity implied at this level of problem solving relates to the ability to filter, prioritize, analyze and validate potentially complex and dynamic material. Degree required.

Basic Function

  • Manages Design, Scope and Order reconciliation for new projects from pre-sale to sign off in assigned territory.  Responsible for production design accuracy attributed to approximately $30M of revenue for the business annually.       


  • Develops project objectives and specifications through project plans, product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; working closely with Sales to complete technical assessments and project proposals.
  • Responsible for technical design of approximately 150 projects annually while maintaining high quality and customer satisfaction standards.
  • Assists in Pre Sales activities including, but not limited to quote assistance, technical specifications, defining customer scope of work, and other pre-sales / pre-installation activities as necessary.
  • Responsible for reviewing pre-sales quotes, to ensure the bill-of-materials is commensurate with the intended scope of work prior to purchase order submission. 
  • Responsible for reviewing sales orders, after purchase order submission, to ensure the bill-of-materials is commensurate with the intended scope of work.  Communicates findings in project meetings with Project Managers, Sales Reps, and other appropriate personnel.  Accountable to project team for ensuring all technical requirements are met.
  • Creates wire diagrams to communicate product configuration and scope intentions.
  • Approves CAD drawings.
  • Responsible for resolving all design, operability, and regulatory issues associated with installation.
  • Ensures the passage of all inspections associated with installation, and operability of installations in assigned territory.
  • Technical resource for customers and field personnel within assigned region.  Conducts training as necessary.
  • May lead advanced product installations, on site or remotely, to completion.  Responsibilities include product configuration, communicating customer network issues and super user training.
  • May support advanced escalation issues.
  • May assist with trade shows, conventions, and demonstrations.
  • May work with other departments on a recurring basis as a Project Engineering Team liaison.
  • May lead programs specific to Project Engineering Team.
  • May work in other regions as determined by business requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Has the independence and authority to perform required tasks to ensure all provisions of the quality system are met.
