Stryker presents a rare and exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team in developing key technology to enable the evolution of new surgical techniques in Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) surgery. The successful candidate will be based at our facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, where our office space and labs are designed to enable our multi-disciplined product development teams acquire an intimate appreciation of our customers’ needs while designing and bringing innovative solutions for ENT applications to market.

Job Summary

Responsible for the management and coordination of select high impact projects, programs and project teams associated with new products and technologies at Stryker ENT. 

The Program Manager will work closely with product development, operations and marketing to drive speed to market, product quality and ease of manufacture.  The Program Manager will also mentor, set standards, and support Project Managers and Project Engineers on bringing their projects to market.

The Program Manager will facilitate the R&D budgeting process, resource planning, project cadence planning and the implementation of business and project management systems in line with best practices.

All activities will be completed and documented in accordance with the Stryker new product development process utilizing associated design controls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•       Assume overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of bringing new products to the marketplace. The Program Manager is responsible to the program stakeholders for delivering a program’s objectives within scope, schedule, cost, and quality.

•       Facilitate the R&D budgeting process, resource planning, project cadence planning and the implementation of business and project management systems in line with best practices.

•       Provide high quality leadership of Project Resources. Generate an engaging and positive environment. The Program Manager will be measured against milestone delivery and People performance throughout the Program lifetime.

•       Lead team in complex or difficult situations, removing obstacles or escalating to leadership as required, assigning appropriate resources and interacting with other functions to assist with issue resolution and streamlining of work process.

•       Establishment of priorities, imparting a sense of urgency and importance to the team while following Project and Program Management methodology in project and program execution.

•       Responsible for clear, objective and quantifiable measurement of Project and Program progress (incl. PTQ, slippage, float, risk rating, financials etc.) and reporting of these to Leadership and Stakeholders.

•       Work closely with Divisional and GQO Reps to drive successful project and program implementation.

•       Participate in the selection, training and performance appraisal process of project and program resources.  Support developing and guidance of Interns, Technicians, Engineers, and Project Managers/Engineers as required.

•       All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may have direct reports future state.

Qualifications (Education, Certifications and/or Experience)

  • Bachelors degree in an engineering or science discipline
  • 8+ years’ experience in a technical and/or project management role. A qualification in project management is desirable.
  • Management Experience: 2+ years management experience is preferred.
  • The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic & results oriented team environment where flexibility is essential.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Be open minded with the ability to recognize good ideas.
  • Demonstrated Leadership, Project Management and Engineering experience in New Product Introduction in a regulated environment.
  • The individual will be decisive, take ownership for their results and have the ability to build relationships and influence key decision makers
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks. Ability to understand complex inputs and to be able to distil critical information.
  • Will have demonstrated an ability to define project and program risk and to effectively manage risks.
  • Demonstrated use of best practice methodologies such as six sigma, SPC, capability analysis, R&R, DOE, DFM, GD&T.
  • Experience of statistical methods and design, product and process validations would prove beneficial.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated or regulated industry beneficial.
  • High level of PC Skills required with expertise in MS Project, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio etc.
  • Experience of GD&T, Process mapping, statistical methods and process/ product validations would prove beneficial. Excellent attention to detail.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • May be exposed to Hazardous materials. Employees need to consult MSDS in their work area.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment to protect against exposure to Bloodbourne Pathogens and chemicals.
