The Production Supervisor will direct the activities of employees engaged in manufacturing activities including, but not limited to, training and supervising, maintaining a positive work environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and established policies and procedures.

Specific responsibilities of the Production Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prioritize production schedules based on product, equipment, material and manpower variables within the unit
  • Supervise all production activities performed by employees; maintain a high degree of visibility and access to employees throughout the shift
  • Monitor and report daily production results, material usage, waste, and downtime
  • Report equipment problems to appropriate department and production manager
  • Coordinate with quality control to maintain quality standards; take appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies
  • Forecast staffing needs to meet peak demands of the business and staff team accordingly; train, motivate, coach, reward, and discipline employees being supervised; resolve personnel issues
  • Coordinates with the production manager to manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training
  • Achieve employee engagement by being responsible and accountable for actions and promoting an environment that fosters personal growth and development
  • Provide developmental coaching and guidance to team in the areas of communication, quality, and adherence to company policies
  • Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures; ensures all established policies and procedures are followed by employees
  • Identify and lead cost reduction initiatives to deliver on financial projections
  • Accountable for all record-keeping as appropriate and in accordance with Stryker specifications
  • Inspect for proper sanitation of equipment and facilities; takes corrective action to resolve deficiencies
  • Maintain safety programs and all required safety training for employees.
  • Allocate and lead resources in area based on production schedule and standards
  • Establish and maintain department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy

Qualifications and Work Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience is required.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:

  • 1 year of experience in a supervisor/people manager role is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of production practices and procedures is ideal
  • Ability to drive team productivity, while maintaining high levels of quality, employee engagement and morale
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach and coach individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying communication and technical skills.  Must be able to adapt to and coach others in an ever-changing environment
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
  • Demonstrated communication (written & verbal), organization and planning skills
  • Ability to work and influence cross-functionally to deliver results
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
