Job Description

As Product Manager UK & Ireland, you will lead the Neurosurgical product portfolio within the fast-growing Head & Neck franchise. You will set strategic direction and ensure execution for portfolio growth through development and execution of marketing campaigns and strategies, portfolio development, internal and external education strategies, and customer engagement campaigns. You will deliver the Neurosurgical annual marketing plan in collaboration with other marketing team members and cross-functional partners. You will be required to develop close, productive relationships with the field sales organization, regional managers, key opinion leaders, procurement and other necessary stakeholders.

You will be the local market expert for the segment and products - understanding trends, the competitive landscape, product performance and customer/user needs - and connecting these inputs with existing or future products and solutions.  You will be expected to work in close alignment with European Brand Managers to ensure aligned strategies and execution across Europe and provide feedback to the Brand Management team on the success of pan-European strategies, and effectiveness.

This role is based in or around Newbury and will report into the Business Unit Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Study of the local Neurosurgical market and competitor environment
  • Gather market intelligence through field visits with sales force
  • Research, launch, or reposition products in local marketplace to maximize sales and growth using 4P’s and Big Picture methodology
  • Create the local tactical marketing plan aligned with the European Head and Neck franchise financial objectives
  • Communicate marketing plan to the leadership and sales force regularly to ensure alignment to the agreed country objectives.
  • Develop and convincingly articulate a long term vision for assigned Stryker Head & Neck Neurosurgical products which differentiates them from competitors and shows how products will achieve maximum potential
  • Liaise with enabling functions on inventory build for product introductions, product deletion planning, and monitor/change safety stock levels. Operational management of product portfolio- demand planning including anticipated equipment fleet needs, demonstration equipment, and local PLCM impact
  • Lead cross-functional launch teams to successfully introduce new products into the market, developing innovative marketing plans including positioning and messaging, segmentation, pricing, account targeting, promotion, and field and customer education
  • Take responsibility for key opinion leader identification and development plan
  • Develop strong KOL relationships with Stryker and competitor key opinion leaders (KOLs), reference centers and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure all documentation submitted in a timely fashion for Stryker product training events and TPEC meetings to local compliance officer
  • Establish and manage cross divisional collaboration for Neurosurgical products with Spine division, ProCare and FlexFinance amongst others
  • Create and own the local NS forecast and budgeting process. Align local discretionary budget, strategy, and execution to European strategy to achieve growth and market share targets
  • Lead portfolio pricing, ASP and profitability analysis for new products and legacy products in the local market.
  • Partner with sales leadership to identify surgeon targets for customer conversion, assist with execution of plan and track sales process by month – advise correction where necessary.
  • Manage and allocate promotional spend and measure ROI.
  • Assist with must-win product evaluations, tenders, or customer presentations
  • Become Stryker product advocate and build a strong partnership with sales force
  • Enable, educate, influence, and align sales team to local marketing strategy and communicate updates on key performance indicators
  • Work with internal education team to ensure sales force is trained to the highest standards

Experience & Competencies

  • Demonstrated successful sales & or marketing experience in medical devices or healthcare industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Engineering, Life Science or relevant field (Masters or MBA desirable)
  • Broad experience in supporting the sales force and customer facing activities in the field
  • Strengths in accordance with Gallup profile
  • Ability to represent the Stryker brand and values with internal and external customers
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; strong cross-functional influencing skills & teamwork
