What you will do 

Act as a core team member on one or more projects, responsible for high-level process and technology development. The candidate will have site responsibility for everything from early-stage process development, to process validation and verification, supporting the project up to market launch. The candidate will work closely with their R&D and Operations partners, insuring that reliable, capable and sustainable processes are developed, while insuring that product performance is not compromised. The candidate will influence others by overseeing day-to-day process development activities and related testing. While the candidate may not be directly involved in DOE’s, capability studies and similar, they must be intimately familiar with these activities.


Responsibilities

•    Act as member of a cross-functional team, representing R&D Process and Technology Development.
•    Provide input from this functional perspective to project manager(s), insuring accurate planning (timeline) and forecasting of resource needs.
•    Oversee and actively participate in all aspects of process development (PD), from early-stage, through regulatory submission and hand-off to Operations.
•    Review, approve and sometimes author critical validation and verification documents.
•    Own monthly, quarterly and yearly PD milestones.
•    Provide input on the long-term direction for the PD team, site and division, relating to key technologies that should be pursued.


What you need

The minimum qualifications for his position are a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, biomedical engineering, or an equivalent discipline, with an additional 8 years of applicable experience.
The following are desired:
•    Relevant experience in medical device process development, especially processes related to the production of small catheters and guidewires.
•    Experience as part of a cross-functional team.
•    Significant experience with design control methodologies; process validation, verification, capability and risk mitigation.
•    Experience with design for manufacture and working closely with R&D counterparts.
•    Experience with extrusion, microfabrication, braiding, coating, small component assembly, high magnification visual inspection systems and bonding technology.
