Job Description

Who we want

Achievers. People with a proven track record of bringing innovative medical devices from conceptual thoughts, through development and into clinical use.

Creative Problem Solvers.  People with a proper balance of industry experience and confidence to challenge conventional thinking and bring up fresh new ideas.

Collaborative Teammates.  Partners who understand that the team is much more powerful than the sum of the individuals.

Technical Rockstars. People who dive deep into the technical and clinical nuances of products and processes, with an innate passion for understanding how things work on a micro level and the ability to translate technology into devices that doctors find delightful to use.

Intrapreneurs. Visionaries who can forge ahead and make progress despite initially-ambiguous goals, working successfully within a large corporation but with a startup mindset.

What you will do

As Principal Engineer for R&D Advanced Technologies and Innovation, you’ll team up with a small group of R&D and BD experts at Stryker Neurovascular to develop new products unlike anything within the company, expanding the reach of treatment to patients who are not well served with today’s technologies.

You will be a core team member on one or more projects, responsible for high-level concept, technology and process development. The candidate will expand new ideas and create prototypes and test methods, interfacing with physicians and internal and external resources to make advancements outside of the traditional product development process.

The candidate will influence others by overseeing day-to-day technology and product development activities and related testing. The candidate may work closely with contract design and manufacturing partners. The work will not be theoretical; the overall need is to advance new concepts well beyond Concept phase, obtain full-project budget and resourcing, and set the course to deliver new products to market.

What you need

•       BS in Engineering or related; advanced degree preferred and may be considered toward years of experience

•       Ten or more years of medical device development experience, preferably catheter-based with more than single-lumen complexity

•       Extensive demonstration of engineering principles and independent application skills; deep expertise in at least one area of medical device development

•       Hands-on experience building medical devices, preferably early-stage prototypes; knowledgeable of many processes used in medical device manufacturing

Work From Home: No

Travel Percentage: Up to 25%
