Job Description

This role will design and develop requirements, prototypes and solutions to deliver mechanical design solutions for robotic surgical applications. Works in close collaboration with marketing, system engineering, quality assurance, and program management to deliver products for Stryker customers per the product development roadmap.

- Generate detailed drawings and apply appropriate GD&T, material selection, surface finish, heat treatment, and notes.

- Review peer designs and contribute to buliding and testing of prototypes.

- Work with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communciate design goals, and incorporate feedback into designs.

- Investigate defined issues with uncertain cause including input solicitation and data gathering that help differentiate the symptoms and root cause of defined problems and propose problem resolutions.

- Meet the needs of internal customers such as GQO, AO, AQE etc. as applicable for specific project assignments.

- Release applicable documentation through Stryker's quality system.

- Clearly communicate status of assignments, coordinate tasks, and shift priorities as dictated by project demands.

- Coordinate project execution amongst corresponding components.

- Assist program management to define, maintain, and execute corresponding detailed project plan(s) which identifiy and sequence the activities needed, the resources required, and a schedule to succesfully complete the project under professional leadership.

- Provide voice for hardware development team within applicable project team to ensure team’s success.

- Share best practices and own project experience to augment current procedures.

- Improve hardware design and development processes to increase efficiency and quality while reducing cost.

- Establish new analytical tools to evaluate design effectiveness during development process.

- Guide design team on concept creation, evaluation, and eventual commercialization providing past experiences to ensure team meets quality, cost, and timeline commitments.

- Mentor other engineers to build technical/professional capability.

- Integrate and administer development tools including required validations as applicable.

Critical Expertise Preferred:
- Medical device
- Electromechanical design, specifically small motorized devices
- Familiarity with industry standard cleaning and autoclave parameters as well as how to design devices which withstand these processes
- GD&T per applicable ASME standards
- Design evaluation tools
- SolidWorks

Minimum Qualificatons:

- Bachelors degree in Engineer (Mechanical preffered)

- 10+ years of experience
