Job Description

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee development and approval of all Division contract proposals, RFP submissions, pricing requests, buybacks and other commercial agreements
  • Partner with Marketing and Finance on price setting and administration during commercialization process
  • Develop and implement plan to manage & control Division price erosion
  • Partner with key SSS stakeholders to implement a contract management system and communications process
  • Partner with Sales, Upstream and Downstream Marketing on product life cycle management activities
  • Work with Sales and Corporate Accounts teams to ensure that contract objectives and KPIs are established for key contracts and that appropriate reporting is created.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting to streamline the rebate tracking, approval and reporting process. This includes rebate approval authority, rebate cancellations and oversight of a rebate tracking tool to monitor key dates and rebate effectiveness.
  • Develop and administer Sustainability Solutions’ RFP toolkit to align with marketing strategy
  • Analyze market data to identify trends/opportunities, develop strategic direction from market information and create/support contracting opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales and Corporate Accounts teams in contract promotion and incentive design for GPOs and covered accounts, ensuring alignment to Marketing portfolio strategy.
  • Partner with other Stryker Divisions/Business Units and Sales team to develop custom contracts for targeted accounts.
  • Educate SYK business units on the value SSS provides and benefits of partnering with the Division.
  • Gather, lead and drive internal approvals for all contracts within scope of role. Utilize established database and system to maintain an effective repository of all contract activity.
  • Routinely monitor and report on contract performance against established objectives, partnering with Finance to develop dashboards and other tools.
  • Develop processes for Marketing, Finance and Sales teams with remediation of performance, including tools for customer communication.
  • Develop training curriculum specific to enhance understanding of contract structure, price impact and negotiation strategy.
  • Align with BU pricing leaders to share best practices, advance collaboration and create standards best practices
  • Decrease risk exposure profile and improve profitability through alignment in our contracts/agreements.
  • Regularly monitor and report on contract and pricing performance to key business stakeholders, including in the IBP process
  • Duties may be removed or added to this role at management’s discretion.


  • Ability to work effectively across Division and SYK stakeholder groups

  • Ability to evaluate and explain detailed contract documents
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Ability to identify and correct minute inconsistencies in contract documents and materials
  • Ability to identify key areas of customer agreements
  • Ability to review printed materials to audit for appropriate language used


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Healthcare related or applicable discipline required
  • Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field strongly preferred


  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in contracts and pricing or other relevant industry experience (medical device preferred) or 5+ years of sales experience with deep product knowledge of Stryker products
