Job Description

Lead and manage all Operations (Supply Chain): Demand Planning and Procurement, Imports & Exports - Trade Compliance, Integrated Business Planning, Inventory, Warehouse & Distribution and Customer Service.

The leader must evaluate, design or redesign the supply chain for the country in order to continuouly adapt the organization to new demands and business direction and company strategy. Acts as an active member of the local executive team, participates and supports strategic decisions for the country and seeks continuous improvements in order to provide a high level of quality and excellence in the service.

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the Operations department’s multiple areas, assuring on time delivery and quality service. Defines procedures and action plans to improve the service to customers needs in accordance with internal policies and strategies.
  • Must lead a highly engaged team of supervisors responsible of functional areas within Operations: outbound and reverse logistics, customer service, trade compliance and foreing trade, technical service, and demand and supply planning.
  • Propose network designs, structures and operating strategies for Colombia, Puerto Rico and Exports countries (NOLA) in distribution, logistics, transportation, planning, trade compliance and service operations, in conjunction with the business leader and regional leadership team, and in alignment with the global SCO (Supply Chain Operations) strategies.
  • Guarantee that customer orders are accurately processed fullfiled to customers.
  • Bring and implement the market best practices and tools, improving competitiveness, service level to customers and cost efficiency with aligment of global guidelines.
  • Responsible for leading and supporting the implementation of logistics operations, launches and initiatives.
  • Lead or participate of regional or global Supply Chain initiatives that impact Colombia, Puerto Rico and Exports countries (NOLA). Collaborate with other divisions as needed.
  • Evaluate and recommend alternative distribution methods through application of benchmarking and best practices. Facilitate identification and sharing of best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Colombia, Puerto Rico and Exports countries (NOLA)LT and SCO to develop fulfillment models to meet short and long terms goals and to ensure the proper communication of customers’ quality and service standards to all operations personnel.
  • Help establish performance, budgetary and service levels for the distribution network in Colombia, Puerto Rico and Exports countries (NOLA).
  • Support or lead global or local Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) in Colombia, Puerto Rico and Exports countries (NOLA).
  • Improve the supply of products by guiding distribution and generating synergies with operations, finance, IBP (Integrated Business Planning), quality assurance and external service providers.
  • Help gather and supply field intelligence for M&A, manufacturing transfers, and other global supply chain initiatives if required.
  • Enforce inventory management standards in accordance with corporate policies and SCO guidelines.
  • Support business continuity and crisis management plans for the distribution network to provide assurance of supply for Stryker products to our customers and patients. Enforce standard processes and rules for risk/security evaluations, tracking, and responses to risk / security scenarios.
  • Influences the development of systems and procedures for operating and managing physical facilities, human capital, equipment, and products in a profitable manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a system of controls to ensure that quality, service levels, and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost parameters and meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Guide annual forecast and budget plan for all 3PL warehouses. Select 3PLs, as needed, in concert with general management. Coordinate and support onboarding of new 3PLs that conforms to defined operating model, systems design and performance expectations. Develop and ensure the purchase budget for freight and logistics, direct and inderect materials and CAPEX.
  • Participate in Regional and Global SCO business reviews and meetings.
  • Accountable for all transactions starting in the Sales Order generation until final customer delivery and revenue recognition. This includes but is not limited to: order management, procurement, inbound, warehousing, outbound, reverse logistics and service to customers.
  • Responsible for managing and safeguarding working capital (inventory on hand and consigned), and other assets managed by operatoins including loaner sets, demos and loaner equipment.
  • It may be asked of the Operations Manager to lead other departments like Technical Service.
  • Assures control and accurate documentation of Opeartions’ processes.

The associate must conduct all business and affairs in compliance with all laws and regulations, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Stryker Code of Conduct, and in accordance with the highest ethical standards.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in operations, distribution, logistics and supply chain operations management .
  • Experience working for multinational medical device technology companies preferred.
  • Knowledge of distribution channels and requirements within the medical device and orthopedics market.
  • Experience in logistics network optimization and modeling.
  • Keen knowledge of how changes in any specific operational metric impacts overall performance.
  • Strong background dealing with analytics and problem solving, performing complex tasks, and working on complex projects in a fast-paced operations environment.
  • Experience aligning performance for success in a high performance environment by setting goals, establishing an approach, creating a culture of learning and problem solving, collaboratively establishing development plans, tracking performance, and effectively evaluating performance.
  • Proven success in generating innovative solutions including challenging paradigms, leveraging diverse resources, and evaluating multiple solutions.
  • Background in new product introductions and supplier metrics is preferred; experience with ERP systems is required and SAP is preferred.
  • University degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management. MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse, transportation, inventory management, customer service and order fulfillment processes and standards.
  • Knowledge of importing, exporting and customs regulations.
  • Hands on work experience with logistics management, warehousing, fulfillment, inventory, planning, order management and MRP computer systems are required.
  • APICS certification or other related certification is a plus. Lean Training is also preferred. Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools, training and/or certification experience is highly preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Project Planning software, Flow Charts, and management of Database tools. Must have experience using statistical software packages and must be capable of extensive spreadsheet analysis.
  • Language Skills:  Proficient in English and Spanish. This position requires the ability to analyze and interpret complex instructions, correspondence, legal documents, financial reports and technical documents.  Must be able to respond effectively to clients, employees and Senior Leadership; as well as handle sensitive and confidential communications.  Requires a high level of skill in both oral and written communication and the ability to effectively present ideas and information.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to drive results through a global and multi-cultural matrix structure is required.
  • Proven ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical / quantitative skills.
  • Ability to make decisions, to work under pressure, and the capacity to exercise good judgment in critical situations.

Technical Skills:   Intermediate computer skill including the MS office suite of programs.  Ability to analyze financial results and develop ROI information on projects.  Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines. Strong ability to analyze complex situations and develop/recommend solutions. Knowledge of supply chain tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues. Prior experience with Supply Chain management tools like SAP, Trade Management, MRP, DRP is a plus
