Job Description

The Meeting Planning Specialist will deliver best in class events and meetings for Stryker's Medical division in Kalamazoo, Michigan. 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute on event requirements for the Kalamazoo site including by not limited to Holiday Party, Catalyst, Stryker Fest, Bring your Child to work day, employee week, United Way Campaign, Comm University, 401K Match Day, Community involvement initiatives and additional events and programs as required for the site
  • Play a key role on the Kalamazoo based engagement committee – The Voice
  • Execute meeting requirements, plans and schedules for assigned meetings. Requirements include but are not limited to: invitations, registration, air and ground travel, food and beverage, audio visual, amenity selection, billing reconciliation, program evaluations and follow-up with minimal direction.
  • Execute meetings within established budget and ensure timely and accurate processing of meeting planning expenses.
  • Establish relationships with immediate team and internal customers to provide a team approach to the successful planning and implementation of all programs.
  • Provide high quality, effective meeting planning support and on-site support as required.
  • Support other team members in the execution of meetings.
  • Act in the best interest of Stryker, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years’ work experience in meeting, conference, or special event planning required.
  • Must be PC-literate with high level knowledge of MS Office applications, including Excel.
  • Certified Meeting Planner or qualified to take CMP exam, or equivalent experience preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills, including ability to tailor communication style to audience.
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functions.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Direct work experience planning multiple back to back meetings.
  • Experience with contract negotiations with national hotels and vendors.
  • Ability to develop & maintain relationships with internal customers, colleagues & industry contacts.

Physical/Safety Requirements:

  • May be required to move equipment up to 50 pounds, reach, push, or pull in order to accomplish job accountabilities.
