The Job's Mission

Imorphics is a Stryker company providing leading-edge 3D computer vision in medical technology applications from robotic surgery to clinical trials. We are looking for a self-motivated, mathematically-skilled engineer, with a strong interest in making high quality software in a regulated environment. The role includes the development of technically demanding computer vision and machine learning software, and requires the flexibility and communication skills to operate effectively within a high calibre team.

Imorphics offers a fascinating opportunity for the right candidate.  The modelling techniques which we utilise are at the forefront of what is possible within 3D medical imaging. Our technology allows us to provide detailed anatomical information for surgical procedure design and execution, and to undertake powerful clinical trials.

The role would suit applicants with a range of experience levels, from a recent graduate to mid-career programmer. Initially you will contribute to the software’s on-going modernisation, such as refactoring and upgrading of compilers and other tools, with training provided and tailored to your existing skills. As you rapidly learn more about our software, you will be able to write new software to support application needs, parallelise and optimise existing algorithms, porting algorithms onto the GPU, and the whole range of product and software life-cycle tasks. You will develop knowledge of 3D computer vision and contribute to applications such as high quality visualisation of the human musculo-skeletal system, surgical planning, automated medical image analysis, and drug trial analysis.

Key Activities & Accountabilities

  • Design, implement and maintain scientific software components both inside and outside a medical device quality management system.
  • Design, implement and troubleshoot algorithms covering linear algebra, computer vision, statistical modelling, and machine learning.
  • Use and improve existing software engineering processes.
  • Fix reported bugs, and proactively solve problems.
  • Support the use of the software in larger medical device systems.

Education

  • Highly numerate undergraduate degree.

Experience

  • Programming in a C or C++-like language.
  • Problem solving in a technically challenging area.
  • Experience of the following is highly desirable
    • Scientific programming
    • Computational linear algebra
    • Modern C++
    • GPGPU programming
    • Machine learning
    • Collaboration in a technical team.
