The Marketing Product Manager independently plans, directs, and manages product portfolio strategy and execution in a financially significant, strategic, or complex product category. In this upstream marketing role, the Marketing Product Manager partners closely with R&D, Business Development and other cross-functional groups to execute on product development and portfolio expansion plans that meet business objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains Marketing Requirements Documents that drive Engineering product plans using a combination of customer research, competitive analysis, and independent judgment.
  • Independently presents and justifies portfolio strategy in pursuit of resource or financial investment.
  • Supports the strategic planning process including evaluation of market trends and potential, creation of business cases including order, margin, and unit forecasting, competitive assessment, and portfolio gap analysis.
  • Sets standard of market acceptability for product features and specifications, including claims and competitive studies required to successfully market the product. Collaborates with Engineering to drive product design and testing requirements that meet business needs.
  • Maintains a leadership role on active new product development projects within respective portfolio segment. Leads customer engagement efforts, including presenting to prospective customers in solicitation of feedback, leading customer-centered design workshops, and directing Customer Preference Testing (CPT) efforts.
  • Approves Engineering plans, requirements, and designs.
  • Investigates, prioritizes, and recommends business development and partnership opportunities for portfolio expansion.
  • Collaborates with Brand Marketing to execute commercialization planning, pricing, product positioning, and Go-to-Market strategy. Drives continuous improvement to ensure successful, high-impact product launches that drive financial success of product category.
  • Participates in customer visits as the resident product/market expert.
  • Maintains key relationships with industry/market thought leaders, organizations, and institutions. Earns customer loyalty by developing true friendships with our customers, providing best-in-class products, services and quality.
  • Participates in industrial, scientific and other types of exhibitions.
  • Prudent management of budgeted expenses.
  • Maintains files, which are organized, updated, relevant, and easy to access.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a technical, clinical, financial, sales or marketing position
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skills including strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong results orientation.
  • Demonstrated customer and business partner relationship management skills.
  • PC and MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 60% annually; Some international travel is likely.
