We are currently seeking a Manager, Value Engineering to join the Advanced Operations team in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

What you will do:

As a Manager, Value Engineering, you will lead a team of cost engineers and provide category specific technical input (globally) for value engineering and project management expertise. You'll build trust with cross-functional leaders and share expertise in translating ideas into value for the organization. This is a management position that contributes and achieves results through others.

Major Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and activate a group of cost engineers in the specific category which they cover, irrespective of the division.
  • Provide input to Sourcing into part selection for Value Engineering.
  • Provide guidance to Value Engineering team on sourcing competitor products for tear-down and coordinating tear-down and ideation workshops.
  • Coordinate with cross functional stakeholders to generate insights.
  • Help teams build preliminary view on impact and feasibility to help prioritize and focus resources.
  • Driving excellence throughout execution of the agile sprints.
  • Partner with and support Sourcing teams in supplier negotiations.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for project, stakeholder and people management including the technical assessment of all assigned projects. Will successfully lead the team to deliver key programs or projects per associated quality, time and cost constraints.
  • Responsible for the implementation, enforcement and compliance of all relevant quality, regulatory and safety standards.
  • Partner with HR in identifying, acquiring top talent while developing and retaining talent within the team.
  • Be an effective partner across all functions within divisional and GQO organizations to deliver associated new products in line with divisional pipelines. Participate and represent the function at required business forums.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 9+ years relevant work experience, including at a minimum 3-5 years leadership preferred (substantial engineering support, management, or project management).
  • Value Engineering experience in plastics and/or electronics/electrical systems highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management and engineering experience in new product introduction in a regulated environment highly preferred.
  • Individual must possess strong leadership skills, proven ability to coach and mentor individuals in technical skills and people development areas. The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic and results driven team-based environment with flexibility essential.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and presentation skills essential. 

Work From Home: Occasional

Travel Percentage: 30%
