Job Description

As a key member of Stryker's Global Legal and Compliance team, the Legal Analyst will support Stryker's litigation team with database management, legal research and filings, and further supports the Employment team in managing Agreements. Essential duties will include:

Litigation Management

  • Inputting case updates into Legal Tracker and ensure matters are accurately coded and classified.
  • Maintaining master calendar for commercial litigation, including depositions, mediations and significant dates.
  • Working with Sr. Legal Counsel to manage caseload including discovery, case evaluation and management of outside counsel for commercial litigation, auto liability, bankruptcy, and class action claims (submitting claims for Stryker).
  • Serving as liaison between Risk Management and Legal to provide oversight of worker’s compensation/workplace injury claims.
  • Assisting in the preparation of regularly scheduled and special reports.
  • Assisting in coordinating trials including making hotel/war room arrangements, coordination of witnesses.

Administrative Support

  • Searching PACER and other legal publications/resources and advise Sr. Legal Counsel of case developments and industry trends. 
  • Acting as liaison between outside counsel and internal departments.
  • Serving as primary Legal contact for internal real estate issues and serve as liaison with outside real estate counsel.
  • Scheduling depositions and preparation meetings.
  • Monitoring CT Corporation mailbox for service of process and route all commercial litigation claims, lawsuits, subpoenas and route for assignment.
  • Providing general administrative support to Litigation team.

Litigation Billings/Budgets

  • Implementing LED codes for billing purposes.
  • Assisting in creating and monitoring litigation budgets.
  • Billing Guideline Reviewer for commercial litigation and employment litigation.

Settlement Administration

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely issuance of settlement checks.
  • Serving as a liaison between Payroll, Accounts Payable, Tax and Finance for settlement payments

Education and Special Trainings:

  • High School diploma and Associate’s Degree required, some college preferred. 
  • Paralegal certificate preferred. 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum three years paralegal or equivalent experience is required.
  • Demonstrates high level of proficiency in computer systems and programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Stryker-specific systems.
  • Ability to analyze budgets and financial reporting.
  • Ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to anticipate impact beyond direct responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates professional and positive demeanor and is perceived as competent. 
  • Ability to handle high volume or moderately complex work and complete it accurately and in a timely and thorough manner with minimal rework.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and instruction of management.
