Job Description

We are looking for a talented, energetic Lead Recruiter for our Spine division at Stryker! This is a terrific opportunity to lead recruiting for our non-exempt and sales positions in the field, and based our of out of our Leesburg, VA and Allendale, NJ locations. Our Lead Recruiter will work closely with Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners to attract, select, and retain talent. Additionally, this Lead Recruiter will proactively anticipate hiring needs and identify recruiting solutions to meet those needs, develop and execute sourcing and recruiting strategies, and participated in other Talent Acquisition related processes. A successful candidate will be able to manage multiple clients and competing demands to attract qualified candidates and fill open positions while positioning Stryker Spine as an "Employer of Choice". Essential responsibilities include:


  • Partner with hiring manager to determine current and future talent needs.
  • ​Compete for top talent with effective recruitment strategies and efficient recruitment processes.
  • ​​Review candidate applications and conduct initial screening against job qualifications (by phone or in person), administer or schedule appropriate assessments and reference/background checking, and make recommendations for hire (or not hire).
  • Coordinate interview schedules for on-site and field-based interviews including assisting the hiring manger with compiling feedback.
  • Provide candidates with tours of our Leesburg headquarters.
  • ​​Source potential recruits using job search websites and make initial contact with viable candidates.
  • Manage internal transfer process, including communication with other divisions, screening, coordination of interviews with hiring manager, transfer offer letters, etc.
  • ​Identify, evaluate, and implement new sourcing channels.
  • ​Build knowledge, skills and confidence to approach, prepare and succeed at behavioral based interviews and train others to do the same.
  • ​​Prepare employment offers and communicate important employment information during delivery of employment offers (e.g., benefits, compensation, non-compete agreements).
  • Assist with development of employment offers for transfers and promotions within the division.
  • ​Advertise opportunities to ensure high visibility with potential candidates.
  • ​Follow up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback regarding recruiting process in a timely manner.
  • ​Assist the HR Business Partner with the onboarding process for new hire employees including helping new employees navigate through the Stryker systems and processes.
  • Assist the HR Business partner with pre-employee onboarding requirements including post acceptance notifications. 
  • May manage a high volume of requisitions at any given time.
  • Drive the offer process including offer generation and negotiations.
  • Identify and source appropriate internal talent for current and future open roles within the organization as well as marketing open positions to potential internal candidates.
  • Support the execution of the defined functional area recruitment strategy.
  • May attend job fairs, university events or other recruiting venues as requested.
  • Support continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiencies.
  • Learn job content within group and organization structure.
  • Disposition unqualified candidates and provide feedback as needed.


  • Follow the recruitment process to ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and employment legislation.
  • Ensure recruitment efforts are conducted in a manner that is unbiased and compliant with all applicant tracking, interviewing and hiring best practices, policies and laws.
  • Partner with leaders to develop job descriptions to ensure compliance and effective sourcing.
  • Provide recruiting reports and metrics when necessary.​

Education & Special Training:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4+ years of talent acquisition/recruiting experience is required.
  • Experience recruiting for non-exempt and individual contributor level field-based sales roles is preferred.
  • Familiar with candidate attraction and sourcing techniques.
  • Must be able to manage time, projects, stress, and conflict.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, including both oral and written communication.
  • Must be able to multitask and bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to negotiate effectively.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Possess basic understanding of the use of recruiting tools such as Behavioral Interviewing, Gallup profiles, and Performance Profiles.
  • Must be able to understand and explain detailed company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize work and keep detailed, accurate, and confidential information and records.
  • Must be able to operate common office equipment.
