What You Will Do

The Lead Accountant will have oversight of day to day accounts receivable (AR) activities as well as other general accounting duties. You will partner with sales on collection matters and provide a great experience for both the customer and sale team while ensuring SSS is collecting cash effectively. You will manage assigned general accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, analysis and maintenance of accounting data. You will ensure compliance with SOX and related corporate accounting policy over financial reporting and internal controls, lead tax and transparency reporting activities. You will partner with key stakeholders as needed to provide support on projects.

  • Leads day to day activities for the AR function of cash posting and collections, including setting DSO and cash targets per budget.
  • Ensures no reconciling items on AR sub-ledger and AR Aging stays within established goals.
  • Provides day to day guidance, support and feedback to the AR team (collections and cash) encouraging employee growth and development.
  • Maintains records of assigned assets and liabilities e.g. fixed assets, prepaids, bonus, equity accounts.
  • Leads evaluation and implementation of accounting procedures, analysis and reporting.
  • Prepares complex journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting as needed.
  • Identifies and remediates reconciling items.
  • Leads division and cross-divisional accounting matters including financial transactions or procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with SOX and related corporate policies over financial reporting and internal controls. Conduct self-assessments as applicable.
  • Leads financial audit, compliance activities and ensures audit readiness.
  • Collaborates closely with internal, corporate, tax, compliance and governmental stakeholders, ensuring all applicable requested information relating to taxes (Domestic and International), transparency and financials are provided timely and meets the established deadlines.
  • Balances books periodically and prepares year-end schedules.
  • Maintains Business Service’s service level agreements with supported Divisions.
  • Partners with supported Divisions and end business users on process improvements and key projects.
  • Ad-hoc reporting on assigned topics.

What You Need

  • B.A. or B.S. in business with an emphasis in accounting or related curriculum.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • 5 years general accounting or related experience.
  • Proficient in general accounting financial reporting knowledge (including knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley).
  • Proficient in JDE/HFM /or applicable ERP
  • Proficient in MS office particularly Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve complex accounting issues using independent judgment.
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies and errors (e.g. in the printed word, accounting reports or statements, etc.).
  • Must be able to understand and explain complex general accounting guidelines and procedures.
