Position Summary:

Partner with internal key stakeholders for the continuous improvement of Kitroom service and growth of the business. Partner with RAQA for the investigation and successful resolution of SERs. Strives for operational excellence by regularly providing ideas for process improvement or cost reduction. Responsible for work orders specific to their product line and/or work station. Must have ability to show proficiency in all areas of the Kitroom by having approved competencies. Responsible for knowing, following, and not deviating from the appropriate procedures assigned to their product line and/or work station. Must have ability to show proficiency in all areas of the Kitroom by having approved competencies. Must uphold quality standards. Must display versatility on a regular basis and must work independently with little supervision. In addition, promotes a continuous improvement culture through a team focus on safety, product quality, employee engagement and productivity in order to deliver the highest quality product to customers. Supports the Sales team through the decontamination of used kits; checking and replenishing used Kits; dispatch, booking and coordinating used Kits; inventory management of used Kits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Detailed Description)

  • Completes repetitive tasks and follows procedures along with written and verbal instructions; works throughout Kitroom operation for majority of scheduled shift
  • Displays versatility and flexibility on a regular basis within department
  • Meets goals as defined within Stryker key success factors of Quality First, Customer Experience, Innovation, People Development, and Financial Results
  • Actively participates in and leads production initiatives and process improvements
  • Collaboration with Leads, Kitroom Manager and RAQA to develop tools and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of Kitroom SOPs; acts as Subject Matter Expert in assigned area
  • Assist Team Lead/Manager with audit readiness programme, perform audit spot-checks regularly
  • Assists in training Kitroom Representative on departmental procedures and acts as signing authority for work completed by Kitroom Representative in training
  • Consistent participation in and contribution to a “champion” role
  • Collaboration with Team Lead/Manager to ensure all team members are adequately trained and maintain completed competencies both internal and cross-departmental procedures and ensure all team members are following Kitroom procedures and completing quality records accurately
  • Responsible for tracking and updating on relevant metrics (as needed) and recording/tracking efficiency issues or concerns
  • Responsible for communicating instructions, planning and implementing process improvements, and initiatives in a positive manner
  • Strives for operational excellence by promoting a team-based, product-focused organization, contributing to continuous  improvement, participating in safety programs, and regularly providing ideas for process improvement or cost reduction

Solid understanding of good documentation practices and documentation retention.

Acts as a Service Advisor and is a true resource to the Kitroom team. Builds deep internal customer rapport through trust, reliability and a genuine commitment to help. Service orientated. Regularly exceeds customer expectations and proactively offers solutions to Sales Staff. Good communication. Excellent follow-up on all customer initiated issues.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced ability to accurately troubleshoot items related to sevice delivery. Uphold quality standards and communicate proactively with Sales Staff. Gains complete understanding of customer requirements and services accordingly. Uses troubleshooting opportunities to grow and protect the business. Superior management of documentation including problem solving skills with regard to documentation. Advanced ability to work according to timelines both in responsiveness and completion. Always acts with integrity and compliance when providing service support. Can detail a number of options for Sales Staff to allow real-time service delivery with minimum disruption. Ability to support more junior team members in their service delivery.
  • Developing Others: Undertakes mentoring projects independently, checking in with Kitroom Manager as appropriate. Seeks to understand developmental needs of group and takes action to address. Shows potential and aptitude to coach all team members, raises the bar for the team.
  • Discretion/Latitude/Impact: Work is performed without appreciable direction. Takes on service leadership role on one or more projects of significance. Collaborates with and may lead/facilitate projects with CFT/SME in determining deliverables. Reports observations / problems clearly and concisely and takes appropriate actions.  Demonstrates developing service leadership skills intra-departmentally. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve sales &/or major organizational objectives and adversely affect revenue &/or budget.


  • Matric or equivalent required with 65% or better average in related subjects & 7 years related work experience OR
  • Degree or equivalent with 65% or better average in related field & 1 year related work experience
  • Stryker Kitroom experience preferred
  • Stryker product portfolio & full Kitroom flow/procedure knowledge preferred
  • Proven experience with outside leadership or involvement in a Stryker champion role or similar
  • Fluency in English, spoken & written
  • Advanced communication skills to build relationships with internal customers
  • Advanced IT knowledge (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet)
  • Advanced ERP system knowledge preferred
  • Valid driving license
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must have attention to detail

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10kg.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • May be exposed to Hazardous materials. Employees need to consult SDS in their work area.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment to protect against exposure to Blood Bourne pathogens and chemicals.
  • Required to comply with all Health & Safety Management Systems the company has in place to eliminate or minimize occupational risk and injury to workers.
