The Senior Manager of BI and Data Analytics is responsible for delivery of Global BI and Data Analytics solutions, focusing on front-end user interface development, visualization and analytics. This person will partner with senior Information Services leaders and business leaders and lead Stryker and development partner resources to execute the BI projects and support the global BI systems. This position is responsible for Global Service IS resources based in US as well as aligning with our Stryker Technology Center resources based in India.  

The Senior Manager of BI and Data Analytics will partner with Stryker GIO leaders to cultivate, prioritize and manage data analytics pipelines and oversee delivery quality for Orthopedics, Medical Surgery, Neuro-Technology, Corporate, and International businesses. This position requires consultative skills, ability to assess high level requirements, develop high level scope estimates and assignment/schedule appropriate colleague and partner resources to ensure investments are aligned with high value financial targets.  To be successful, the candidate will possess strong collaborative, consultative engagement skills, demonstrate confidence and an ability to work through ambiguity be very organized and adept at maximizing resource investments and value in a highly matrixed organization. Select areas of responsibility include:

  • BI and Analytics Vision & Strategy and Development: Responsible for contributing towards BI and Data Analytics vision and strategy, especially in the front-end tools, visualization and analytics areas. Initiates and leads regular assessments of organization’s Data, BI and Analytic solution landscape, identifies and delivers improvements and efficiencies. Assesses technological risks that could jeopardize the growth and/or operations of the organization; makes recommendations on applications retirement. Stays abreast of business needs ensuring platform and solution roadmaps are aligned.
  • People Management and Leadership: Responsible for supervising day-to-day activities of managers, technical leads and developers. Ensures appropriate staffing of roles and skills by hiring and developing the talent. Mentors and develops teams of managers, consultants, tech leads, junior architects and team leads. Partners with IS leads, is a key conduit into Stryker Global Technology Center (SGTC) technology development teams. Leads and directs the work of development partners.
  • Vendor Partner Management: Manages relationships with technology partners. This includes, hiring and off boarding of contractors for Stryker’s BI & Analytics projects. Contributes to and takes decisions on new vendor contracts from Operations Management perspective. Drives consolidation and optimization of spend and seek out synergies across managed services.
  • Business Relationship Management: Key point of contact to GIO/Business for BI Analytic projects, and escalations. Partners across GIO/IS and business to ensure legacy platform / solution road maps are in place. Consults across business domains to identify opportunities to improve information, service levels, establishes and delivers transactional BI service improvements.
  • Front-end/visualization and Analytics Development: Formulates deployment strategies to ensure reliability and scalability for BI and Analytics systems.  Drives and leads development partnerships to high-performance levels and oversees strategic and operational BI & Analytics programs, projects, and/or services of broad significance to the organization

Minimum Education, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent field of study Required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certifications in one or more of the following ITIL, PMP, Agile Methodologies, Six Sigma, Lean required.
  • Minimum 13 years of professional experience in Information Systems with a focus in BI, data and analytics.
  • Experience delivering Business Intelligence, Data Analytics and Data Warehouse solutions, with a focus in front-end visualization and analytics; Experience with mobile BI tools.
  • Current or prior hands on experience with Data Integration Tools (i.e. Mulesoft, Azure Data factory, etc.) and Reporting and Data Visualization Tools (i.e. Power BI, SAP Business Objects, SAP Analytics Cloud and/or MS SSRS/SSAS).
  • Experience in back end database technologies such as SAP BW/HANA, SQL, Hadoop, Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with advanced analytics (predictive/prescriptive).
  • Knowledge of medical devices, life science and/or pharmaceutical industry and basic knowledge of adjacent areas in terms of processes, organization, products and IS requirements preferred.
  • Experience working with executive business stakeholders is required.
  • Proficient in productivity technologies, Excel, SharePoint, visual analytic tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization structure with significant emphasis on collaboration and persuasion, rather than relying entirely on command and control.
  • Experience documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required.
  • Experience understanding, evaluating, and recommending changes to business processes are required.
  • Expertise of Agile Development methodologies preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical, GIO teams to develop rough order of magnitude work estimates Experience developing business processes to drive efficiencies business results.
