Job Description

The Sr. Business Architect is a key member of our Global Information Services team and will support the current Finance Transformation program.  The Sr. Business Architect is responsible for building strong collaborative relationships to shape and drive our architectural strategies toward an enterprise solution.  The successful candidate will work closely with IS Business Partners, Analysts and Technical leads to ensure consistency in the customer relationship and communication of our IS initiatives, and to identify and design solutions to ensure proper IS alignment globally.
The Sr. Business Architect will effectively articulate how to execute on strategies and shape technology solutions, partnering with delivery teams and providing mentorship to business analysts when appropriate.  They are responsible for understanding business processes and coordinating communication among various business groups and IS technical teams for critical and complex projects related to US Distribution. The Sr. Business Architect may also partner with the Architecture Review Board in defining application standards and driving the final decision on solution and vendor selection.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with initiatives related to the Finance Transformation program (Finance One).
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with the business and act as a liaison between IS Business partners, IS teams and our Corporate functions.
  • Build a strong understanding of the commercial processes (including sales, marketing, and other associated functions) and apply this understanding to IS strategies and implementations.
  • Improve the business analysis function through best practices, process management, mentoring, and education.
  • Manage relationships with high level business stakeholders.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to drive consensus on the best solution to business problems and the delivery of new solutions and enhancements.
  • Work with a diverse business community to develop/create and document as-is and to-be business processes.
  • Collaborate with business units beyond the IS organization to establish sound business practices for a global team.
  • Execute and partner with leaders to assist in developing the overall strategy and IS partnership.
  • Develop and document clear and testable requirements which describe a system to be implemented.
  • Ensure clear communication between business stakeholders and IS technical teams.
  • Lead collaborative effort for business case development.

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master of Business Administration preferred.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry and basic knowledge of adjacent areas in terms of processes, organization, products and IS requirements.
  • Experience working with business leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization structure with significant emphasis on collaboration and persuasion, rather than relying entirely on command and control.
  • Experience with process mapping.
  • Experience documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format.
  • Experience understanding, evaluating, and recommending changes to business processes.
  • Experience working in an agency-regulated environment.
  • Expertise of Agile Development methodologies.
  • Experience with formal Project methodologies (preferred).
  • Experience developing strategic business process methodologies to drive collaboration and business results.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cross-divisional business needs and working strategically with multiple facets of a global business.

  • Demonstrated strong communication and influencing skills – oral, written, listening, executive presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business representatives at all levels to identify needs, define and document requirements, and drive solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide the business towards optimal solutions.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for process optimization, process redesign, or development of new process/policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain clear communication channels with IS and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert complex business functions into technical specifications.
