Job Description

You will work with leadership in this highly visible role to ensure success with our systems. You will be responsible for developing architectural designs for integrated systems within and across Finance Services Platforms. In this role, the Principal Architect will partner with Business Analysts and Technical Analysts to understand the overall business need, define overarching requirements and create high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms and develop an overarching architectural design and model that will support Stryker’s business needs. The Principal Architect is responsible for verifying the detailed technical documents, validating the configuration within the assigned applications, and ensuring solutions are delivered based on the prepared design.

You will:

  • Perform activities following Stryker’s Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) framework and processes
  • Play a significant role within the Architecture Review Board, in not only defining application standards, but also driving the final decision on solution.
  • Lead solution development and implementation for new systems and enhancements and participate in defining technical standards for the specialty area.
  • Responsible for all architectural design aspects within the Finance Services area and maintaining knowledge of new technologies within the Finance Services area
  • Responsible for all technical design, prototypes/mock-ups, development, testing and delivery of solutions for release cycles and/or new projects within the Finance Services application stack
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other Solution Architects, Solution Leads and Solution Analysts within the team or same project/program.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the systems process flow, performance and technical efficiencies.
  • Support the business and recommend/provide holistic solutions that integrate the existing technical standards with the business needs and processes
  • Choose the right technology platform for implementing an architected solution.
  • Manage and coordinate with external suppliers and deployment partners to ensure they meet their contracted deliverables, agreed upon timelines, and metrics
  • Gain hands-on experience across several disciplines.
  • Serve as domain expert in all aspects of architecting, designing and application development.
  • Formulate deployment strategies to ensure reliability and scalability for Stryker systems.
  • Assess technological risks that could jeopardize the growth and/or operations of the organization; makes recommendations on applications retirement.
  • Provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level specialist.
  • Demonstrate expertise in a variety of the systems development concepts, practices, and procedures. 
  • Write specifications, develops architectural concepts and artifacts.
  • Develop and build robust integration with Infrastructure, Security, Governance, Service Delivery, etc.
  • Focus on delivering activities on budget, leveraging time on value-driven activities and ensuring external resources meet contractual deliverables.
  • Complete special projects/assignments as required.

Education & special trainings:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in the areas of Computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical field of study required.
  • Master's degree in MIS, MBA or related disciplines preferred

Qualifications & experience:

  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the Finance Services architecture and major modules (configuration, processes, integration including add-on products) as well as the current/future Finance Services product portfolio strategy (e.g., SAP BPC, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Experience in leading resources for projects, preferably for a minimum 5-7 years
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of global system rollouts – strategy, planning, vendor selection and implementation planning preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to drive IS methodologies such as ITIL, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile Development is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of medical devices and/or pharmaceutical industry and basic knowledge of adjacent areas in terms of processes, organization, products and IS requirements preferred
  • Experience working with executive business stakeholders is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively across a cross functional and matrixed organization.
  • Experience with process mapping, documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required.
  • Experience understanding, evaluating, and recommending changes to business processes are required.
  • Experience developing strategic business process methodologies to drive business results
  • Ability to drive initiatives and projects independently from start to finish
  • Strong knowledge of Excel Advanced, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Access DB, MS Project Suite (MPP/Visio/etc.)
